Video doesn't make it seem bad, but if you read into the back story behind it, these guys are blessed to be alive! I've always wanted to wheel Black Bear myself, but it would be a rush! These guys are lucky, if that rock hadn't been there they'd have gone over that cliff to their deaths. I saw pictures of a Jeep that went off the edge here about 10 years ago, needless to say it resembled a pancake..

Be safe out there wheeling, guys!

Here's some pictures of that last, less fortunate Jeep that was leveled after rolling off the pass. Both occupants were thrown from the rig and died instantly, seatbelts or not, nothing could have saved them.

Looks like the only thing that might be salvageable off that Jeep is the winch.

I ran black bear pass back in August with infra and mh.meire. got lucky we beat the rain by about 20 min. It can definitely be a dangerous trail.

    Awesome!
With your 2011? How did it do on those tight corners? I want to either do it in a rental Jeep or if I have one by then, a first gen xtra cab 3.4 with a 5 speed. I want to get another first gen just for off-road mods specifically.

Could I do it in a stock Tacoma if I didn't have mods when I went? I would like to have a lift and bigger tires before I go, but only time will tell.

Lots of people must break that rule, heard about a lot of rental Jeeps going on that road.
