Just curious to see how the general public/tacoma enthusiast world feels about the new Nissan Titan with the Cummins 5.0 V8. What do you think about the market? Anybody excited? Anybody interested? Anybody care at all?

I work at the Cummins plant where it's manufactured. I'm hoping there is a Tacoma with our 2.8L engine in the future :burnrubber:
Here is a teaser just released yesterday for the Detroit Auto Show. I can say that the new Titan body style looks great from what I can tell underneath all the camo wrap they use to try to disguise it!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I never knew Cummins made a V8, thought they were all inline 6.

It will be our first automotive v8. All the Dodge Cummins are inline 6's. We have, and still do make a v8 used for a military application. Can't say much more than that.

This is how I've always felt about the Dodge Cummins combo as well. Great engine surrounded by a malfunctioning rust bucket. I have heard good things about the new "Ram" trucks though, and have also talked to a fair amount of Nissan Titan owners who say they love them...so we'll see.

suppose to be a sequential turbo set up were a smaller turbo will be used for daily driving and a larger turbo will kick in for more power. its not a true dual turbo setup though .

Will the Titans be 3/4 tons or half tons?

It's not a sequential set up.

This info isn't available to public yet....

    Those are half tons, yes.
I hope so, diesels in half tons just seem out of place to me. In small trucks like the Tacoma and Colorado they are great for economy and light loads, but in full sizers they should be for heavy hauling imo.

Our Tacomas are classified as quarter tons I believe.

They had a project going about developing a hino diesel for passenger trucks but when the economy took a dump they just threw it out.

TUNDRA is putting the same 5.0 diesel in the Tundra, I think it is to help lure in the "I only buy trucks made in Merica" that are built in Mexico buyers. Then a few years drop in their own motor maybe one from a HINO after they establish they build good shit, They are pretty peppy and low revving engines.
