Interesting. OP should read it! He obviously hasn't.
I dropped Allstit years ago. Short story, they frauded themselves. Screwed me. Had some savings, so I bought a new vehicle and insurance through State Farm! So I'm no fan of Allstit. Just trying to keep the OP out of court.

Allstate and Comcast are my top two personally hated companies.

Was with Allshaft for over a decade. Allshaft F-d me HARD. So nice and polite until I needed help. Then suddenly everything was a big problem. Went with State Farm and it's been great. Allshaft agent actually had nerve to call me about coming back. I think it makes sense that Allshaft takes this big brother approach. If they offered me a year of car insurance for a nickel I would literally, no joke, turn it down. They don't need to determine my risk. I have personally decided that Allshaft is too big of a risk for me. Just saying how I roll. Other experiences may differ.

I don't mind. I was moving cross country and AllShaft dropped my insurance. I didn't even know. Agent said it was because I asked it to be dropped. So I had been driving without insurance for weeks. Couldn't get them to restore it cause they, "Don't insure uninsured motorists." Now all their friendly talk is over and they get rude and bureaucratic. Suddenly nobody at AllShaft can do anything. Was with them for 10 years.

Was in the middle of starting a new job. About ready to have a fit cause everything was going wrong. Ever have that happen where everything seems to take a big dump all at once? Well, AllShaft was the last straw. Thought I would lose my mind!

I called the nearest State Farm agent and they took me right on the spot over the phone. Ended up moving all of my policies over to them. They have been fantastic.

I, still to this day, f-ing hate AllShaft. F AllShaft.

Again. This is only my personal experience and opinion. Others may vary.

I can see this being mandatory in the future. Just like health insurance will be higher for smokers and fat people car insurance rates will be higher for what you described.

it doesn't ever make your rate go up for not doing well.
it is just an extra opportunity to get additional discounts if you get a good grade on each of the 4 things that it looks at

Regardless of insurance carrier, you are literally selling your personal info for a (hopefully) better rate. The more people that support this model the more insurance companies will support and/or require it. I personally still strongly believe in personal privacy and reject this business model entirely. Base the rate off my driving record and credit score, just like other insurance companies, and if they won't do that I will vote with my dollar to someone that does. I do not want a big brother device riding shotgun, and I drive conservatively.

BTW, to whom ever suggested putting the tracker on the girlfriends car, OBDII code devices record the make/model/year so it is almost guaranteed you would get caught.

I'm not even sure why or how the credit score is tied to rates (do we not pay in advance of coverage) but...

On another note (kind of an old thread and not sure if OP is still following), I would just ask myself why a for profit company would offer me a product that cost them money to provide and process and that may reduce their revenue....

Are you trying to defraud your insurance company?
    And then?

    That's fraudulent.

Also, you chose to be a volunteer fire fighter. Your reward is in the riches that are accomplishment and service to community, not why can't someone give me sympathy and reward me with lesser car insurance. Selfishness gets you nowhere.
