Brake Fluid

I know there are 100 threads about different oils and which is better, etc. Is there any debate about brake fluid? I'm going to have the fluid in my wife's SUV flushed, but want to know if it's worth buying my own fluid and taking it to the shop or just letting them put in whatever.

Is there a product that is to brake fluid what Mobil 1 Full Synthetic is to motor oil?

I've been at a 1-year-old's b'day party all afternoon. I need to talk car stuff!

 

i used a synthetic valvoline synpower brake fluid when i swapped in my braided lines.

 

It really depends on the usage of your brakes. Normal driving would you be able to tell the difference between a high end synthetic DOT 4 and a regular DOT 4? No. I think you would benefit with better braking performance by switching out to upgraded pads and braided SS lines.

Just remember, DOT 5 is not compatible with DOT 3 and DOT 4.

 

This will be absolutely normal (if not light) brake use. My wife drives to/from work every day in light traffic, and her SUV is a Lexus, so there's zero off-roading or performance driving involved. I rarely drive it, but neither one of us drives much more aggressively than a grandma anyway.

I think I'll just let them put in whatever they put in normally. Thanks for the advice, guys.
