My wife has a 08 Honda CR-V and under very light acceleration, there is an occasional high pitched noise. I checked, it's not my wife making the noise. It sound like one of those electronic dog trainers. Extremely annoying. I've noticed it at low and high speeds.

Any thoughts on what it could be before we bring it in for warranty?

Sounds like it is more from the front, but the high pitch makes it hard to distinguish.

I think they all have a 5 speed auto

A whistle's tone undulates, the noise (when it is there) has a stabe tone.

Ok....The 5 speed auto has reports of a quiet whine sound comming from it under light acceleration from low speeds (5 mph). ALl the newer 5 speed autos are reporting this. Pilot, Ridgline, Accord..... Is this somthing that just started?

Sorry Robert, but does the pitch increase with speed? Engine or Travel?

    Thanks.

I just noticed it, but it might have been there all along. We normally have the radio on which could easily hide it.

Ok...It cant hurt to have it checked out....Im not there to actually hear it, so it COULD be a bearing in the power steering pump, alternator, etc....which would dictate replacement. IF its the tranny...Thats a normal sound.

My wife has an 07 CRV. I notice the same thing but only when I am driving above 70 mph. I thought it was just the wind.

Im thinking its the tranny. Most of the "Economy" cars/vehicles have less sound dampening material between the cab and the engine/chasis (I know the CRV is a unibody, however it has a subframe assembly in the front which is what I mean ny 'chasis') thus allowing more tranny noise (Whine) into the cab. Its a faint sound, and generally, even the lowest radio volume covers it up. However...Some whine has been attributed to A/C compressors, PS pumps, and alternators.
