Advice for selling Honda

So i've had my truck now for about two months and my previous vehicle was a 1998 Honda civic. I've been trying to sell it for the last month with no luck so far. I've got it posted on autotrader and craigslist, so far i've seen no interest in the car. Any advice you guys have cause I really need to get rid of it.

The car is a 1998 Honda civic. It has 127,000 miles on it, which is pretty much just getting broken it. It runs great and starts with no problem, i recently replaced the tires and brakes. It also has a sunroof and aftermarket headunit and speakers. I am asking 4,500 hoping that i can get between 3,500-4,500 for it. I didn't list it for lower b/c i didn't want to deal with people low balling me, since the car looks great and is in great condition.
BTW this is the first time i've sold a car so any advice will be helpful.

Try using.....Craigslist,www.autotrader.com, www.cars.com, local paper, ebay...etc.

 

Generally if you're getting zero interest you're asking too much. Have you run the KBB private party value? .

I put in 98 DX coupe with 127K miles in NJ didnt check mark any of the specifics.

 

The KBB is 3,500, i figured i would list it higher so that there would be room to negotiate. When i bought my truck the asking price was way high, i was able to get the price down a good bit. So if i lower the asking price, i would think that people would lowball me with offer of like 2,500. I've put the car up on the free online sites, i guess ill try the other ones that you have to pay for, so i can get it out there. I was also thinking of parking it on the main road in town, w/ a for sale sign during the day.

 

Post a lower price but say it's FIRM. Also, try: (1) posting on a Honda enthusiast forum, (2) posting on multiple craigslist regions, and (3) bumping your ad to the top on craiglist by deleting your ad and re-listing.

 

Nice car. But the $4500 may be scaring people away, especially in this soft market. Remember...that for every person that likes to haggle, there's probably 10 that don't. And those that don't, often times never bother to call you about the car in the first place, much less make an offer....even if they're truely interested in the vehicle. I've learned that from the many cars that I've sold over the years.

 

Well i sold it for 3,000 cash so im pretty happy. It's gone and i no longer have to worry about it, which is really nice. Thanks for the advice guys.
