Does anyone have any experience with 1 of these trucks? I found a good deal on 1. Its got the 7.3 IDI non turbo,5 spd, 4.10, crewcab, single wheel rear(not a dually). I had a 84', 6.9 years ago that was a real good truck, not much on power. Anyways, the truck will do what I need for hauling capacity, seems to run good.
Thx

The 7.3 IDI is a bored out 6.9. One of the major issues you have to look out for is cavitation problems with the thinner cylinder walls. Stick with Motorcraft/Beru(sp.) glow plugs and run diesel kleen and you'll be golden. My '87 6.9 4x4(it was free). Also, the 5 speed is the way to go. The 3 speed auto sucks too much petrol.

pretty much bulletproof motor, think the 5spd is a zf not sure but the truck should be good truck as long as it wasnt beat on and had normal maint.

The starter is out on the truck, we pulled started and it seems to run pretty good. The body is straight, it did have a 5th wheel bolted into the bed at 1 time, holes are there. Since it was a bolt in 5th wheel, I doubt it was pulling alot of weight. All the fluids look good.
Basically I am trading a 93' Dakota,5.2,auto,4x4 hunting truck that has rusted out fenders/bed. The Dakota can be street legal very easily, has A/C. Body is dented up abit. But runs like a bat of H-LL. Dakota does need a brake line and e-brake cable replaced. Both trucks have not been road legal for over a year.Pretty much a project/toy swap.
Thanks for the input.
