People for the most part in north america do not know how to drive anymore. I'm not talking about weather or not they can make a proper left hand turn or obey the speed limit and stay in their own lane. I'm talking about vehicle control and know what to do in emergency situations such as a skid or hydroplaning.

Most people don't even care enough about driving to direct all their attention towards it. Everybody these days is watching a movie, texting, talking on the phone, eating, putting on makeup...just about anything except paying attention.

Nobody is gonna go into a corner that fast and even then it didn't look like they were going to roll it. I know for a fact that my truck could roll easier than that SUV going into a corner that fast as well as many other vehicles. They were drifting basically.

It's what happens when you desensitize the act of driving a motor vehicle on public roads to a natural act, akin to walking or breathing. People no longer think about driving and fully expect themselves to be fully prepared for everything that could happen. Americans are becoming too dependent on vehicles for everything.

    Case in point -
At our house, we have our mailboxes in a centralized location. I watch a couple of our neighbors, whose garage is literally 20 yards away from the mailbox. Instead of driving their car into their garage and walk to the mailbox, they drive up to the mailbox, retrieve the mail, get into their car, back out of the mailbox area and do a two-point turn and then drive to her garage..

I also love when people drive for 10+ minutes to find a close parking spot...then I get mad when people do it at the GYM.

I am really confused watching that video.:help: I am pretty sure that most vehicles would do that same thing. Plus it didnt even look like it was going to flip.

LOL LOL LOL Well, that just totally DISCREDITED Consumer Reports to me!!! A roll over warning??? Looks like that SUV handled that turn very well! It was going fast, I'd say about 50, slammed on its breaks, and then cut into a turn...and it did NOT flip. That's preety damb great if you ask me. I was to see someone (NOT C.R.) do the exact same tests on all SUVs, from the same cammera view and compare all of their body rolls and sliding!!!!!!!!

Consumer Reports has always been a joke to me, telling me garbae is good stuff and good stuff is bad; but this seals it!!! After all the bad press Toyota has been getting, their just anther bunch of idiots jumping on the bandwagon.

i don't necessarily agree with no license till 18 but a better system for licensing. 3 year graduated system in the first year must drive with a licenses driver who have had their full license for 4 years. minimum number of hours spent with a certified instructor so new drivers can learn vital skills like what to do in a skid how to drive on snow and ice what hydroplaning feels like etc. Then two years probation period no alcohol no driving between certain hours only one person under the age of 18 in the vehicle unless they are immediate family and so on. Canada has a similar system to this in many provinces but i think during the first year of driving there should be mandatory instruction to teach these drivers how to well drive.
