Required loan payments are driven by three things:
    - The Amount Financed
    - The Term/Length of the Loan
    - The Interest Rate of the Loan

The amount financed is determined by the purchase price, minus any down payment (or trade-in). The term/length of the loan is usually driven by the monthly payment size the buyer can afford, with larger payments enabling a shorter term/length. The interest rate is driven by a combination of prevailing rates and the buyer's credit score. Higher credit scores indicate less risk for the lender, leading them to charge lower rates. Lower credit scores indicate higher risk for the lender, leading them to charge higher rates. (As with investors, it's all about risk vs reward.) Buyers with a long history of solid credit almost always qualify for better rates than those with no or poor credit history.

Assuming 60 month loans in the examples you cite:
    - A $375/mo buyer with a 3.9% rate would have borrowed about $20,415.
    - A $650/mo buyer with a 10% rate would have borrowed about $30,610.

Assuming 48 month loans in the examples you cite:
    - A $375/mo buyer with a 3.9% rate would have borrowed about $16.645.
    - A $650/mo buyer with a 10% rate would have borrowed about $25,640.

Make sense? (I apologize for letting my inner-MBA out...)

LOL.....payments fluctuate wildy if you let the stealership do the numbers...

$285 for 42 months @ 1.9% thru my credit union, they allow weekly payments online, that makes it easy to pay $100 weekly it should be paid off in no time...

Got PenFed as well. Some of the best rates I could find were through them.

Payments = 0 for my Tacoma and my wifes 4runner! I had a payments when I had my 2007 Mustang GT and I despised having to make that every month.

Paid the seller with a $14,000 cashiers check. About $1400 in taxes and all that shit. I was 19 when I bought it. The next week after buying it, I was literally using my friends piggy bank :anonymous:

But I couldn't pass up the deal. 2006 TSS double cab, 1GR, 2x4 with just 15,515 miles:eek:. Retail on KBB at the time was $24,300 (this was june of 2010)

$190/month, at 5.9% with another 30 or so payments left. Negotiated to $19,000, dropped $10,000 for down payment. Pretty much just signed my buyback check right over to them.

Auto payments scare me. My truck is paid off.
I may be tempted to buy a new taco though, in which case I'd have payments. Might sell my current one and use that money as a down payment. That's the smart thing to do, no?
