got a tranny problem on a neon

i got a dodge neon from someone who is moving to the west coast. if i cant fix it for a reasonable price ill just scrap it. it only cost me 300 bucks so wtf, why not. worse case i can demolishon derby it or take it off road.

i know nothing of the car other than a 2 min test drive and what ive been told. i'll deal with it on saturday.


so its a 2002 dodge neon.
wont shift out of first.

looking that up online it appears to be a shift solenoid and/or speed sensors (in and out).


so ive watcched videos on how to r/r those parts. seems straight foward enough.

my question is if i go thru this trouble, should I also flush the tranny fluid and/ change the filter?

it has 59xxx miles on it.

 

no don't flush it, it will break again soon enough (it's a neon) so just get it working and beat on it till it dies.

or sell it.
