That's exactly what I thought. I'm not sure why, but this is what they told me:

"After the number of valid buyers has been determined, we will enable a custom URL for your group that will be posted for a short period of time (generally 2 weeks). This link will allow purchases to take place at the determined discount rate. Each U.S. customer will receive their FedEx tracking number in an email soon after payment is received. After the predetermined purchase quantity has been reached, we will ship out all packages and the tracking numbers will become valid. The initial number of valid buyers is critical, we will not further discount the group buy pricing if the number of customers exceeds what was initially agreed upon (i.e. pricing is fixed once group buy begins)."

I'm still waiting to hear back from Redline. Just give it a couple of days. I would expect to have it up by tomorrow or Wednesday. I'll let everyone know when it's up.

UPDATE 7/23/08:
Shipping is fixed at $9.81 for U.S. and approximately $24 to Canada.
Also, the hood struts are not limited to Tacomas. You can order for any make, model, or year that Redline makes a hood strut for. Redline will work this with us, too, if you want struts and EZDown for any other vehicle.

UPDATE 8/11/08:
OK y'all, I have the headcount at 17, with two folks interested in the EZDown. I'm not sure on price for the EZDown, but I'll make sure they try to at least beat the eBay price of $54.69. I was able to get us a shipping rate of $9.50 to match the eBay shipping cost.

Not to bust balls, but the ebay EZDown's ship for free at that price.

$9.50 is for the struts. Not sure what the shipping cost is for the EZDowns, but if you feel that the eBay price is the best deal, then go with eBay. I do appreciate you pointing that out, but at this point, I've already tried all I can to get the best deal for us and my POC has done a pretty good job of it, IMHO.

Well we haven't even seen a discounted price yet for the EZDown from Redline to compare, so that makes the decision tough.

Banchi's comments in the 8/11/08 Update were saying two things...

-----1) He'll try to get a price for the EZDown (and hope it beats Ebay's price of $54.69)

-----2) He got RedLine to match their Ebay shipping price for the hood struts. He had originally negotiated $9.81 for shipping, then realized that they were shipping the same struts for $9.50 on Ebay and got them to match that shipping price.

The two comments in his post, though next to each other, were not related.

I'll try to get some kind of price for the EZDowns. The only thing I can promise is that they will cost $54.69 or better. I don't know about the shipping cost yet, since we only have two people intrested in them. We're getting a pretty good deal on the hood struts because of the quantity.

It's tough to try and get a good deal when there are comparison's outside of the group buy, such as eBay. If I can get Redline to match it or do better on the EZDown, then I'll let you know.

I apologize for some confusion, but again, because we did not have a huge headcount for the EZDown, the best I can say is that they will at least be $54.69 or better. Shipping is another story, but I hope that my POC can at least match their eBay auction.

Absolutely!!! We just needed an initial headcount to get an idea of what kind of discount we get. Once the purchasing link is open for us, anyone can still get in on the deal.
