No need to get them off to clean them. You can clean them in the truck with their shampoo and a rag.

I get fine sawdust tracked into my truck that gets under / through my existing seat covers . I would like to shampoo the seats occasionally .

Is it hard to get them on and off ?

I have never tried to get them off and the shop did the install for free. It took them like 20 minutes to get them on.
