Trent there are so many brands of kayak racks so it's hard to tell. I was looking at these
    http://www.amazon.com/Malone-J-Load...&qid=1345639762&sr=8-17&keywords=kayak+j+rack
and I know they will work. Just about anything that you use a bolt to secure it down can be used with the rack.

Oh and you do not need the slide n lock for the J rack in fact that wont work. The slide n lock is just an adjustable track to allows for multi tie down points. They come with clips and extra clips can be bought but they are not compatable with other accessories.

I only use the "J" rack when I carry 2 kayaks. so for everyday use with one it should do the job great. I'll just rig up some padding and ill be good to go for one. Just waiting on a response from Sergio to send moneys and get this thing on its way!! Thanks again PTO!

PTO answered your question... Here are some pics which may help. ( I love pictures.) :)

    From the BajaRack Installation manual

Thanks PTO! I found two other online sources for the uni-trax type product (listed below).

I think you're right. They're all about the same or at least do the same thing.

I love the flat mesh--lots of options!!! I may start with some strategically placed eye bolts and graduate to the tracks later depending on my wants / needs.

I want to thank you for sharing your experience with the product in this thread. It's very helpful to me and probably anybody else that comes along and reads this. And finally, nothing wrong with installing the rack the day you recieved it, even if it was that hot!!! I too do stuff like that all the time. Just last night my wife thought I was nuts for installing a hitch-mount bike carrier at 10:30pm. I told her I had to know that it worked right. :D

Some light tabs are an extra, please ask when you order. If they are extra, the cost is $15. each.

Plus one on making sure it works. I made this bike rack a few weeks ago because I was sick of asking every bike rack manufacture to bring one to the market. I wanted to leave both wheels on and have it swing out. They told me there was no market for it so I took some Thule tray mounts, a swing out carrier, some bolts, uni-strut, and a welder and made my own. The day I mounted it three people asked me to build them one. I have no interest in building more though.

No back to the regularly scheduled Bajarack group buy.

I have been stupid. I put a OEM roof rack on my truck and learned that it won't survive rough road when loaded. So here I am needing a stronger rack. I no longer have the rubber trim for the roof channels. Can I use the Flat Utility Rack? What do I do about the missing trim?

Any news on rack for Access cab? Anyone tried the Mule rack on Yakama rack system?
