All shipping companies are a PITA to deal with. I've had nightmares of issues with FedEx in the past, thus I switched to UPS about a year ago and they've been a little better. Lately they've seemed to damage more than before though, maybe they've got a ton of packages with the holidays so they just huck everything around? :notsure:

It's unfortunate. Mine arrived fine. The box was gouged but I was good. I appreciate how it was packed. I think you did your part. These poor guys dont get home till they're truck is empty. Then drive back and get in their car and drive home.

Finally got my new tailgate on! I had to have it repainted, as the shop I originally got it from painted it a straight black, DESPITE my giving them the correct paint code for black sand pearl...

Anyhow, it's on and ready for the reinforcement plate. I kind of like the sleek look without all the emblems, but I know I'll get them on eventually. I propped up the old tailgate for a few pix.

    IMG_1352Medium_a9b5c9c55e35ddf24dd3582141accc09aad788b1.jpg

Look at how straight it is! <sighs happily>
    IMG_1353Medium_f4c645e401f011788e69692caf6f306d135e252b.jpg
I also don't recall seeing any pix of these obstructing screws that were in discussion a few pages back, that kept a poster from installing his plate correctly, but I'm guessing these are the ones? (The one on the right is pointing to my old tailgate, obviously)
    IMG_1358Medium_823e0c47ddcad13b6241fc427f794cad3c7b9703.jpg

It's wide open right now, as I think I may need to get a new handle/latch assembly. One of the wires keeps popping out of the thing, as the plastic clip holding it in place is broken. It's as big a piece of sheeit as the entire durable quality of the tailgate is.
    IMG_1354Medium_6d92b5c4bc1d5a0d3c84fc459207c52e41f773fe.jpg

And here, now that it's off the truck, you can really see the damage previously done that originally brought me to this site for a solution. Had I known that the damn tailgate was manufactured with the weight and consistency of cereal box cardboard, I would have looked into this sooner.

Look at those oh-so-helpful "support" tabs there! God, this must be the most beautiful example of wretched, inferior construction and design that I've ever seen. The fact that they're still making them like this... boggles the mind.

**Looking hopefully for that shipping PM notice! :D **

Yep, those are the two screws that need to be removed.
