Update: Called and got Eric on the phone, got everything sorted out. Thanks!

Sorry to come in on this thread but I sent you a PM for status on orders #1416 and #1469. When you get a chance, I'd appreciate a response. One of them is indeed for a tailgate reinforcement.

    Thanks.

Seeing as the tailgate is so poorly made, it would seem that the plastic backing is an important part in keeping the tailgate in its intended shape. Now that I have removed that, and replaced it with the sheet aluminum, it is clearly stronger, but would I benefit by having both the aluminum and plastic on?

I kept the plastic piece on to keep the stock look and prevent scratching the the aluminum piece.

Effing UPS. Bent both ends. Send it back or repair? Powdered coating is screwed.

Dam that sucks man. See if Relentless has any options before you fix it. Is it aluminum? or steel? I don't know how bendable aluminum really is though.

If you think about fixing I suggest placing a rag over the bent area and use a large pliers and see if you can bend it back into shape.

But in my opinion I'd see if I can get it replaced though. Frickin UPS :smack:

It's steel. The box was mangled and the foam packaging wasn't really on the ends. I was out of town and my wife got it. Finally unpacked today. I used a piece of wood on it, but I'm really disappointed. Not straight yet. Touch up with flat black? Not sure if I can get it straight.

I'd get a damage claim on UPS. I had to do something similar to USPS. They lost 10 oil filters for my car but..... sent me a empty box

Sigh. Too close to Christmas to screw with it now. I took those pics before I unwrapped. The black foam wasn't on the corners. Shipped improperly?

Thats a shipping fubar. My aluminum arrived pristine. Sorry for you. I'd just try and straighten. Mines going to get beat up enough. Maybe a claim would help vet it repaired by Eric? Good luck.

Mine (powder coated aluminum) arrived bent also, but only one corner. It looked exactly like yours, with the "protection" foam slid off the corners. I tried to straighten but it is pretty impossible to get it nice and straight ( like new) when it's bent like that near a corner.
My impression was that if whomever packaged it for shipping had spent an extra
30- 60 seconds protecting and wrapping those areas prone to bend, it would have been fine.
It is such a bummer to get something new that's damaged.
Otherwise, really nice, well made mod.
    ...and no sticker

I haven't revisited it today. Too many Christmas things to get done. How did you touch up the PC?

I was all prepped to install today. Got my screws, got my plate...just needed to get the foam. Now it's a project. I'm thinking flat black paint will be sufficient to make it look o.k....

    All silent from Relentless.
