    Thanks
And we've revised a few holes (moved by a 1/16") to better match the tailgate pattern since learning about the issue late last year. Havent heard 1 person mention poor hole pattern since so looks like it's been taken care of for all current/future orders.

Paid for! Can't wait to install this. I use my tailgate to make food on the trail a lot and I'm not a fan of the ribbing. Nor are my knees when getting in the truck bed to get stuff out!

The piece I ordered in March matched all holes with no mods.

Kinda the same reason I'm buying it- expensive mod for the convenience of not putting your beer in the wrong area! At first I liked the way it looks, now it's just a pain in the knees getting in and out of the truck!

^This. Every time I crawled into the bed my knees take a beating and I'm tired of spilling drinks whilst tailgating or camping. Plus when me and and another person are sitting on it, it start creaking a little ominously lol. Would rather just add this and know I'm solid

while making your tailgate into a better picnic table is a fine idea, I want one of these to reduce the chance of damage when loading a 550 lb motorcycle.

Anyone here with one of these installed actually doing this??? What's your opinion of the bend strength of the 14ga. vs the Alumunim?

    Pics?

Interested in this as well. I don't want the tailgate to be as heavy as a 2500 HD, but some strength so it doesn't bend would be nice. Plus, I'm in the rust belt, so I'm thinking aluminum will be the way to go as long as it has the strength to hold up

Eric will have to chime in on when the next group buy could be...

As far as strength goes, considering the other method of beefing up the tailgate is a replacement cap for the plastic cap on their now, and folks have been happy with that (albeit it is steel), I would think a plate that covers the entire tailgate, along with the formed cap that is incorporated into the plate would add considerable strength to the tailgate, either in steel or aluminum, in order to load motorcycles and/or atvs...but at this point, I am speaking from theory, as I don't have my reinforcement yet, but am certainly looking forward to the day it shows up. Those who have an aluminum version can speak from personal experience.

That's pretty much what I was thinking too. If it really had strength problems being aluminum they probably wouldn't be producing it. I was sitting on it this last weekend with my girlfriend (we're both a bit large) and with 450 pounds it definitely had the feeling of being weak. I think if I was sitting in the middle rather than on the edge and bounced slightly it would have bent.

Here's what he said to me in a PM, when I was talking to him trying to figure out if I needed to do steel or if aluminum would be fine. I'm going to be using it to haul dirt bikes a LOT (almost every weekend) but he still said aluminum would be fine for my application.

"Just to clear it up, none of them at this time are diamond plate. All are smooth sheet.
I think for hauling bikes the Aluminum would serve you well and the lighter weight will likely be welcomed over the heavier steel. I would recommend the Aluminum to all but the hardest users of the truck, it's very sturdy still even with the light weight.
    -Eric"
