Amsteel Winch Line and Hardware

I'm able to get some great pricing on synthetic Amsteel winch line, I guarantee that you won't see these prices anywhere else.

Like many other group buys that I've seen in the past on TW, pricing will be dependent on the quantity of line ordered. Basically, my supplier doesn't regularly stock 3/8" Amsteel - so it is much more cost effective for me to purchase a 600 foot spool and pass the savings on to you.

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to compete with any of the major winchline manufacturers. This will most likely be a one time deal; mostly just want to hook some TW members up with what I feel is a great deal on synthetic winch line.

I can offer the line pre-spliced, or just cut line. Honestly, with a little bit of practice and technique, anyone can do the tuck and bury eye splice in synthetic line. Although, many of the manufacturers will lead you to believe otherwise..

So here is how pricing will be broken down:

3/8" Synthetic Samson Amsteel

$1.75/foot

Bear in mind that I can only offer ONE SIZE (3/8") and ONE COLOR (We'll go off of what the majority of people want)

I can also offer thimbles as well, I'll be able to get some more pricing info if there is interest..

Payment:

Individual orders will be invoiced in full, with flat rate shipping rate of $15 included in final price. Payment will be expected in full.

Splices will be executed in accordance with Samson's authorized splicing techniques; as well as stitch-locked with Dyneema 2.2mm seizing twine.

Due to the amount of interest, and my decision to invest in a new Stainless Steel splicing fid - I will charge $5 per eye splice.

I was already thinking about putting a "field repair kit" together, with splicing fids and instructions.

I'm in. I'm thinking 150' uncut. 2 anti crush tube thimbles, not spliced. Color doesn't matter to me. Can you get the winch stop thimbles as well?

Basically I'll make a 100' section of winch line and a 50' section of winch extension.

 

I will not be buying any right now. It is too soon for me. I got my WARN kit already. I was more trying to encourage the idea you presented. I know how to do the splicing myself, I like to use heat shrink tubing too and I realize the dangers of the heat on synthetic cable/ rope. I even make and repair my own cast nets...

Used to make my own bow and crossbow strings. Avid fisherman, sail a lot, and used to hang out on boats reading books on knots.

I'm going to come up with a timeframe for the GB, hopefully we'll reach 600 in order to get that price per foot down to $1.52.

 

Don't think I'll be able to get the winch stop thimbles, but it looks like another TW member is trying to organize a GB..

Thanks, skygear! I can't stress enough the awesome benefits of synthetic line over traditional wire rope. We go through probably thousands of feet of it every year on the boat I work on - most of it is 1" diameter or greater. Hell, a few of the Bering Sea boats we fish alongside have begun to use synthetic line for there towing warps. About $100k a winch to convert over!

 

sub'd. im definitely interested and i know some guys at work who would jump in on this. i would suggest adding a poll to this thread so members can vote to determine the color.

 

I am in for 80 feet of the charcoal colored line with the best loop option.

 

mine should be 100, not 150.
and I'd like you to do the splicing.

Yes. One end spliced with the thimble. The other end just bare. That's the way they are sold for my Superwinch.
