A lot of people get the mini (H1 or D2S) because they're easiest to install

FX-Rs are better quality but require free hand cutting of your light housing and a slightly more difficult aiming/securing process.

Blazers are for fogs, you have to cut/rig it up custom, no plug n play or bake n reseal there.

    H4 headlights
H10 fogs (H11 for 2012s) are the sizes you need and the harness will be the H4/9003 iirc

H1 has been deemed a little brighter while D2S more even output. Most go with the H1 simply because its brighter but don't consider other factors. Matt and the guys at TRS mostly favor the D2S and I also like to point out that the larger shrouds fill our headlights better than the mini H1 and there is a greater selection.

3000k is yellowish and good for fogs for its ability to cut through adverse weather

4300k is like sunlight or stock color headlights and has the highest lumen count (brightest) of the available options

5000k will be whiter and is the highest TRS recommends.
6000k is also very white with a tiny bit more blue

Any higher temp is stupid because you lose light output and fatigue your eyes and others.

I always say 4300k is the way to go but can see how white/5000k has an appeal

The upside to a projector retrofit vs cheap hid bulbs in your stock light housing is mainly that it is higher quality and has a clean cut off line.

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head but that should be a good starting point for anyone who wants to start researching these.

please add your name to the most recent list.

$270?!! am I reading the right one??!
HID's on eBay are $59... what makes these more expensive??! I see that we get 25% off... that makes it a little better, but still a hefty price tag for me right now...

and I see 9005 when I clicked on the link... is that for 2nd gens??! I have an '03 First Gen, so don't I need 9003??!
Also looking for the Halo's as daytime running lights... I just like the look of those... how much more are we looking at for those??! Anyone find any on eBay??!

You haven't been educated in the world of lighting so I'll be nice before you go about bashing pricing in my thread.

First off, this is for a full retrofit kit - meaning everything you need to convert your halogen headlights into something similar in output to say an Acura TL, BMW M3, Lexus RX, etc etc. The parts are quality - not cheap eBay parts that stop working after a month.

You will need a 9003 or H4 harness.

As for installing halos alone, you can do that but you might as well do the retrofit at the same time. If you don't like the price, there's other alternatives but you know that saying "you get what you pay for" - this is one of those times it applies.

my bad, didn't mean it that way... I just don't shop at Best Buy when I can get it better online, etc... so when I see a two things at different prices, I question... (sorry, runs in the family of being 'squeaky')
So would the price for my 2003 be $270 minus 25% making it $202.50 + $10 for shipping... I might be able to swing that...
I've been through 3 sets of eBay HID's in the past year and a half... The bulbs and ballasts burn out so quick... I have also replaced the entire headlight casing a while back cuz the old ones were fogged...
Do you have a nice write up (say with Pictures for the non educated Lighting impaired)...??! am I gonna need to take out the entire headlight casing?!! I've yet to find a good detailed write up on here for the Retrofit... There's so many different kinds/brands it seems so most just have before/after pics and not much in between...
I've been looking to do this for a few weeks and I can't see anything anything at night with my Halogens... It's like I'm driving down the road with a dimly lit flashlight...
    Thanks for the help!

Nice! and thanks for choosing a Blacked out option cuz that's exactly what I would want to do with my truck! My headlight casings are already blacked out on the inside... Can yours be painted black with (I'm guessing) High Temp Black Spray Paint...??!
So, which light kit am I gonna need??!
I'm used to a more Silver bulb rather than Blue and a few people on here say they like the 4,800k (is that right?) bulb cuz it looks cleaner and more white than blue...
Do you have a set with the 'Halo's'??! if so, how much more?

and Also, my speedometer gauge cluster lights are out so I can't see how fast I'm going at night... Do you sell LED's for the dash??! One side went out and the other went out 2 weeks later... Looking to do maybe an Amber (red) set... just throwin it out there...

it seems when I neglect my truck for a few months, it lets me know...

again, thanks for the help! sorry for all the questions, I'm just one of those people who likes to know what I'm getting into before I plunge off the deep end... I usually end up drowning or screwing something up...
