    Possibly.

I'm not sure. Mine still has 8" or so left..plus it's not close to vertical.

I picked up my bed-rack last week from Pelfreybilt. Tyler is really cool and the work is top-notch. I'm lookin forward to this GB goin through so I can throw the CVT on it. :D

Thanks, Blackdawg. I'll definitely consider their slim line of tents , but the annex room in the Mt. Shasta is growing on me. :D

:notsure:Are their any other major advantages to the hardshell tents (other than being more aerodynamic) over the others (Mt. Shasta / Mt. Bachelor)?

Based on my pack rack set up, a portion of my tent will sit over my truck's roofline that's why I was orgianally leaning toward the hardshells.

They are faster to setup too.

Instead of taking a tarp off then unfolding it and then inserting poles for the tarp. You just undo 4 latches then insert the crank and crank it up.

But other then that not really. If I had a 4runner or other SUV it's the only type I'd consider for the stream line part.

I bought a Mt. Shasta independent of this group (it is not a group buy yet!) Feb 12th. I had attempted to contact CVT a couple times via e-mail the week prior with no reply. At the time I did not know about this thread with the desire to form a group buy for a discount. On Feb 12 I did call CVT and talked to Bobby there. He told me he had been off work several sdays sick, and was trying to catch up on calls and orders. I asked a few questions that I had and he answered them, so i ordered the Mt. Shasta RTT as it fits all my needs. Bobby there knows his stuff and was great on the phone and appologized for not getting back to my previous inquiry.

I suspect he is very busy catching up while he was off and if sales are brisk offering a discount right now might not be practical for his business. I mean why sell at 20% or 30% off if he is doing fine especially with the (now discontinued) Valentines Day shipping deal? Let him get caught up and see if he wants to offer a group buy.

Group Buys are supposed to orriginate with the manufacturer/dealer as an incentive to move product when stock is high or just to boost sales in slow times. Having customers requesting a discount is kind of like asking him to work harder but for no profit.

    I respectfully disagree.
A group buy is an excellent opportunity for a merchant to sell a large amount of product in a short period of time. And by doing so the sales increase so a discount of some sort is offered.
These group buys can be originated by the merchant but more often than not it is a group of consumers seeking better pricing that initiate these deals.
I have had many members ask me to do a group buy, but the custom nature of my product prevents it.

You obviously have not been around here too long. There are always group buys going on for many different products, people contact manufacturers all the time to inquire about group buys. It's a great way for companies to make multiple sales, while tw members get a discount on a product they have been eyeing.

If you want to pay full retail for products....feel free not to participate in any group buys since we already know your stance on them

Group buys are the perks of being a part of a large forum community.. Think about it.. its just like going to Sams Club, if you buy a lot of stuff at once you save money. Here is an example:

You buy a box of 10 snickers for $4
or you buy 1 snickers for $1

not only that.. group buys are a great way for a vendor to get their product out there which then advertises it's self. in my area no one has a RTT.. by me driving around with one it could potentially raise awareness and create more sales.
