people can just as easily order a CVT right now if they want too..

the Gb prices are unmatched though and thats what people wait for.

    Hey guys,

I've read through the GB thread. Some pretty rad set-ups in here, nice work! I've got a political green light from the wife to geek out on the RTT idea and learn more. :D If we jump into the RTT world it will be a CVT.

Forgive the long ass question, but here I go anyway.... We're experienced campers with 2 young kids and a dog. I'm looking to add some comfort, convenience, style and fun to our weekend adventures. I'd love a pop-up camper but they are just too much. I don't want to tow it, store it, plus no pop-up is going to go where I want to take my kids. Maybe we will work up to an off road trailer someday, but for now this is my logic.

I have a DCSB with a snugtop XV with factory rails, etc. I can change the roof rack / hardwear if needed but I just don't know the limitations of my Snugtop.

I'm interested in the Rainier, but concerned about it's overall size when folded and weight on the Snugtop.

I'm curious if anybody with a 4 person CVT RTT can share their experiences and any photos.

    Cheers,

    Salt

Get the Rainer and if need be fabricate a support inside the snugtop. I've got a Mt. Hood on top of my Leer Cap with zero issues but the Rainer is quite a bit larger. You'll also cantilever over the cab and hang off the back a bit if you center it on the cap.
I have my Mt. hood flush with the back of the cap and hanging over the cab by about a foot.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks HomerTaco,

I think the Rainier is only 10 lbs heavier (empty) and the same folded measurements. I think the only difference is the overhang. Have you had four people up there?

Anybody else have beta on the Rainier or Hood? (even better beta if paired with a Snugtop XV)

    Cheers,

    Salt

I wouldn't sweat it to much. if you don't think your snugtop cant hold the weight can always have the kiddos sleep on the annex section.lol

YEeeaah...I don't think that would fly. It would be me and the dog down in the annex for sure, and all the girls would be up top. :)

    Cheers.

Feeling lazy tonight, but when does it look like the next group buy will be? I would much rather spend my money on quality!

Well, with the added weight of the RTT you're going to need to beef up the suspension in the rear end anyways so....BOTH!

You're a prerunner so I vote tent. Suspension won't do much if you don't even have 4x4 lol

Yeah. I was thinking the Mt. McKinley - the monster one...

The Rainer is the overhang version of the Hood.

There are more pics of my setup in my gallery if you want to see the placement.
So far I've been the only one sleeping in it.
For a family trip I see my wife & kids up top with me in the annex.
