Yeah it's a certain brand of switch that looks pretty much stock. I've loved the way it's worked so far with my setup. Wiring is not that difficult, it makes it a whole lot easier to draw your schematic out beforehand so you aren't confused when installing everything. The hardest part was probably grinding down the switch hole to put the switch in.

I saw the link on HIDPlanet and was going to post, but I wasn't sure that Andrew wanted the codes actually typed in a format that could be searched on Google.
He linked a JPG on HIDPlanet... I could open it last night, but now I can't because I don't have an ID over there and it is now an attachment.

    http://www.theretrofitsource.com/enewsletters/2013-thanksgiving/#.UpfKAeLhffk

The 4 codes are live through Monday.
    10% off $100-$149
    15% off $150-$199
    20% off $200-$249
    25% off $250+

A few items are excluded, such as the VIP projectors and OEM ballasts.

Yes but what I'm saying is it's about the same price for way better projectors. I bought a roll of sealant myself and I have done 6 headlights with it and still have a bunch left

Its just a decision to take the chance to hack the hell out of them or not that's all.

    Also depends on your facilities.

I've got a single car garage that's packed with shit, so I'm working in the condo parking lot and my dining room table.
I don't have a way to jig them up in the truck, and can't get a 20ft distance to shoot the aiming inside the condo.

The D2S (and H1) drop in, rotational adjustment is the only thing needed/possible, and as mentioned above, I set that by looking into the lens and comparing the top edge of the fence with the horizontal facets in the reflector.
    Worked like a champ.

I would have had to have had Ants do my install had I opted for the FX-R.

Ya I hear you. I live in a house but no garage just a shed and my drive way is maybe all of 20ft. Idk I will have to decide by Monday.
Would a 55w kit for the minis be to much heat for the projector?

Yes. I've heard of multiple people burning the chrome off the reflector bowl with the 55w. If you want 55w, go fxr for sure. I like my minis but I kinda wish I would have done 55w fxr now. I like light :D

Yeah I know haha. I went with the h1 after looking a pics of the beam pattern compared with the d2s. There's some good comparison pics on hidplanet. Also it depends on what kind of install you're willing to do. The mini's are super easy and fxr's are more tedious and invloved.

I was in the same boat. For the price of the fxr's I got my minis and the halos that I really wanted and the install was easier. Also didn't have a good job then like I do now..

Found a post from Matt on HIDPlanet in 2010 recommending that the 55w not be used in the D2S and H1.

Of course, the thread got off track with people jumping to the conclusion that the post was only about the DDM bulbs since 55w is an option for the TRS pulldown.

It looks almost like two threads were merged, with the DDM content dropped into Matt's thread.

My only complaint with the halos is there is a tab on them where the wires are soldered and it sticks out like a sore thumb and is hard as hell to hide. They should really be soldered on the back of the ring, would look 1000x cleaner.

Here's how I hid them. Had to trim quite a bit on the lip and inside of the shroud to compensate for the thickness of the wires.

Edit: I painted the wires and the tab that sticks out black so it blends in with everything unless you are right up on it.

They are bright as hell though!

Yeah I would def not do it on the mini's. I've seen pictures of things melted and of the chrome burnt/peeling out of the reflector bowl. I guess they leave it as an option because some people risk it but why spend that much money on something to chance ruining them?
