TW, I'm considering making "kits" of these where I ship a box with all of the pre-cut parts and fittings and a can of PVC cement with instructions but have no clue if there would be a market and how much I could sell them for. I know what I have to get to make it worth it can I get some feedback on how much you think these could go for and if you may be interested? Thanks! I hope I'm not breaking any rules posting this feeler...

I'm thinking for a 10-rod holder like the one pictured should be in the +/- $90-100$ range for a kit... alot of the expense is tied up in the rod sleeves.

$50 for the frame, and 5$ each for the holders

    Does that sound reasonable?

Why not just make the sleeves out of PVC? I did that when I built the rack for my tube and it works well. Would drastically reduce the price.

Thanks for the tip I thought about this and you're right except I'm sold on how the sleeves are flared on the end and I doubt I could do that to the PVC without deforming it. The flared end is not only for looks, but I imagine that it is a bit more friendly to your equipment. Then again, I also thought about putting door edge trim around 1 end or something soft to avoid having to flare it. I may end up goin that route.

That would knock the price down to probably the 60$ neighborhood.

That looks great OP. Could you possibly make a 3 rod that would mount onto the rail system? I kayak quite a bit and the nose of my yak sits all the way against the cab.

The rod sleeves are easy to make. Heat a peace if PVC pipe with a heat gun then shove a wine bottle in to it. I just made a few for my kayak. It took less then 10 minuets to make. Rod holders are pretty easy to make so I'm not sure if its worth the trouble.

Yea that's kinda why this is a feeler..

Doesn't using the heat gun to heat the PVC to flare it cause it to discolor though? that's what I'm afraid of... but it's not that big of a deal I guess if they get painted.

Not sure i used black abs. Ill give it a shot when I get home and ill let you know. Buy I think if you don't over heat it it should not discolor. You only need to soften it a bit to make it flange.

Is this for transport, or beach fishing, or both? Either way pretty good idea!

Try something like this, made it a couple weeks ago out of a piece of wood and pvc pipes. Its mounted to the rail system by bolts and I cut out a part on the pac for the reel to sit in.

No problem! quick tip: to cut out the part for the reel we just clamped the pipe to the work bench and used a hand held power saw then sanded down the edges a bit. PM for any questions on it!

    I bounce it offa stuff.
That's a pretty sick setup. Does it need to be secured in the bed or does it just sit in there?

Sits between the wheel wells and doesnt move side-to-side, and can be ratchet strapped to the front cargo loops in the bed to keep it from moving forward or back.

The idea is that it's easily removable instead of being bolted in.

That's an awesome set up Clint. I would be down for one of those. By the way, we need to have another San Antonio get together.
