I ordered one the last go around, and it's great. If you have fitment problems check out my post in the URD vendor forum. Out of spec factory shifters seem to be fairly common.

 

I recomend this for all. Its not so much for quick shifting. This mod just makes shifting so much more precise, and less movement when doing so. I went from extending my arm when going to 3rd and 5th; to resting my elbow on the center console and shifting with ease...

And for the price Gadget is offering, this is a no brainer

My short shifter arrived yesterday. When I opened it I thought they had shipped me the wrong part. The install guide included is for the 1995-2004 Tacoma. I called URD and was assured I have the correct part and that the install guide hasn't been updated for the 2nd gen trucks because the installation is exactly the same. We're just on our own to figure out how to disassemble the console.

Just got mine today. I was going to install it tonight, but I'm going to be doing the tranny, diffs, and t-case fluid sat, so I'm going to wait till then since I have to re-FPIG the and re-toruqe the shift housing each time.

 

got mine in the mail today... can't wait for the install!

Thanks for finding that write up. The updated pictures make it much more clear than the instructions that came with the SS, granted they are for a different gen 4runner....
