We are very excited to announce that we have become one of the first retailers for Oztents here in the US! We have asked Oztent if we can help get the name out to the US by offering a group buy to our customers and they were kind enough to allow us to do so! As a result, you will be some of the first folks on the trail with the Oztent and know you got an incredible deal

Oztent is the perfect alternative to the roof top tent. It is a ground tent that can be set up in 30 seconds or less as well as taken down and stored in about the same time. It is for those that dont want a rack to carry a RTT, would rather have a base camp but dont want a trailer, dont have a garage to store a RTT in, or you have a family/dogs that wont fit in most RTTs, or just dont like ladders in the middle of the night after a few to many frosty adult beverages.

We are going to offer 15% off if we can hit 5 tent orders, 18% off if we hit 10, 20% if we hit 15, and 25% if we can hit 20+ orders.

We will ship these tents anywhere in the continental US for a flat $20 from our shop here in NC.

You will also have the opportunity to purchase any of the Oztent accessories you would like for the same discount if added to a tent order. Including awnings, furniture, screen rooms, or any other accessories just post up which tent you want and any accessories you would like to add. Will also extend the discount to the Jet Tent line...

We have this group buy posted on other forums and once we hit the number of commitments across all the sites we will offer the discounts and get invoices sent out and tents shipped.

That is a cool tent. Love the fact that it only takes 30 seconds to put up. I already have a RTT but sometimes if it was just myself camping, I wouldn't mind using a ground tent so I can leave the tent trailer at home.

I would be interested but that is a high price for a ground tent. Not trying to thread crap or anything. I understand that this is a Australian company and I'm sure the quality is excellent but damn.....if only this was in the $400-$500 for the R4.

Good luck with the group buy.

Thanks for the feedback...its all about perspective and this is a new type of product to the US with a new level of pricing that may seem steep for a ground tent. The old adage of "it can be fast, cheap, or reliable...pick 2" comes to mind here. Oztent built a new mouse trap that is fast and reliable, but is more expensive than other ground tents.

5 years ago I was having very similar conversations about RTTs. "Why should I spend $1500+ on a RTT when I can have an excellent ground tent for $300. People began to see the value because of comfort and fast deployment of the RTT and all of a sudden the price seemed like a bargain. Fast forward to 2014 and look how many people have RTTs.

Some people have different needs than what a RTT provides. There family is larger than 2-3, they dont like ladders in the middle of the night, or cant justify the storage and expense of a RTT ($1500) and a rack ($500) but they still want a rugged fast deploying tent. That is where the Oztent fits into the market. That is the primary reason I was excited to put this group buy together for everyone...to sell a durable and reliable, fast deploying ground tent here at a discount that cant be beat.

Thanks and let me know if I can help you out with an RV-4 :D

These are pretty neat. I'm in the market for a RTT, but I'd love to have one of these as an additional place to lounge and hangout in.

These tents are pretty nice. I was all set on a RV-5 but decided to go with their jet tent at the last moment. Very good quality. Lots of cool little features that make the tent worthwhile.

Only complaint is that they greatly over simplify set up time. Yes it can be deployed and look like a tent in 30-60 seconds but it is not ready to stay in until it is staked out. Add a couple of minutes to get everything staked and tight. Kinda misleading marketing.

Other than that they are a great tent. The heavy canvas does very well to keep heat in during the winter and adequate ventilations allows a good breeze in the summer.

Love my RV-1!! Wanted to get the RV-2 but RV-1 is the only one short enough to fit in the M416 trailer. These things are quality built and make you wonder how you ever dealt with tent poles before.

They are a really cool product! Glad you are enjoying yours...

Keep the questions coming guys...lets get this group buy together so those interested can save some money. We only have a couple commitments at this point so if you are members elsewhere, and share this and it generates some more sales we will try and pass some additional savings to you. Just keep PM me and let me know if its posted somewhere.

    Thanks!

Not to mention, OZ tent has great customer service, Randy and his wife over at OZ USA are very cool and helpful. I visit them every year at Overland Expo.

I'm the proud owner of an OZ tent. RV-5 with the tagalong, deluxe side panels and rain fly. Its a nice set up. We love it. Worth every penny. When we get to the campsite we set up the RV-5 in less time than the rest of the group have their tents out of the bags. Even my 13 year old could do it by herself. Supper easy. Super fun.

Subbed. Seems like a no-brainer to me. I'll need a roof rack to carry it though...

How do you guys camp? Air mattress, cots, or sleep pads? Obviously if pads then you can fit more people in a tent then cots or air mattress. My advice is to always go with one size bigger than you think you need. If a tent sleeps 2-3 then in my opinion it only sleeps 2, if 3-4 only 3 and so on. The RV-# is about the number it sleeps. The nice thing about the Oztent is you can buy the side panels for the front awning and use it as a room for storage of clothes or other gear and then only use the tent for sleeping quarters.

I would recommend at least an RV-3 for your needs...
