This is still a long shot right now

I contacted the company that makes RTTs for several of the companies here in the states. They quoted me 450.00 each for ten roof top tents (Like the ARB Simpson with Annex) please note this does not include shipping. This is also with 280g ripstop canvas that is slightly heavier than some of the others selling RTTs.

I am not doing this for profit just trying to get a good deal myself.

I am still waiting on a quote to ship which could possibly make it unrealistic once the cost to transport it to the states and then to your house is factored in.

Basically I'm looking for nine others interested in this design of tent. I would try to get more involved but I am trying to keep it simple.

I will hopefully have shipping cost and time frame in a few days.

    UPDATE

Right now we are looking at 620.00 each for 10 tents.(Not including shipping with in the states and duty/import fees) This includes the tent and annex. This will be with 280g Ripstop material, includes annex, plus the bulk shipping to California from China.

This is basically the top 20 list so far of people who have shown interest, it doesn't mean who will buy. If your not on the list and think you seriously want in on this don't worry, I imagine only 20-30% of the people will actually come through. I am just trying to stay fair with those who first responded, and those who are offering to help me out.

I was thinking limiting this to 10 tents just because I have never done this before, its a lot to take on, and like all of you I am just trying to get a good deal as well, I am not running a business or trying to even profit. Once all details are figured out maybe we can up it to 15 or 20 if the interest is there. It would also slightly reduce the price if we did more tents. Also they were asking 500 to ship them to Oakland, but they said they can do it for 380 to LA. I need to figure out how to either get them to me in Colorado to ship to every one, or if I go to CA, or if some one else in the group buy can help on the CA side, I have had some offers, both are in the Oakland area, so that is the reason the price is off the Oakland port cost.

This is what I ask, If you are seriously interested please PM me. Please include your first name, state and zip code, an email address, if you are in California and are willing to come to either the LA or Oakland port to help let me know. I will include you in all emails between myself and the manufacture so you are in the loop. I will use your location to figure where every one is and try and group people close together.

Where we are now? still figuring out logistics from a port.

    Thanks!

Also, a good deal is always nice, but will definitely want some info about quality, durability, size specs, etc... Personally I live close enough to one of the big rtt companies that shipping cost may not be a factor, and support if needed is close.

Definitely interested though, so stay in touch :)

This is a quote from the email

"Roof top tent is one kind of main products.
Our factory used to make ARB tents and awnings.
We make OEM brand roof top tents for our clients,
    Our main customers from Australia,American,European,
we made brand tent for TJM, AUSTRACK , GORDIGEAR ,CAMPWERK, CVT , TEPUI etc"

Also I found out the annex was not in the price, it is 570.00 for a tent and annex when ordering ten.

    Waiting on a shipping quote.

Is anyone I located on the west coast, near a port, that would be willing to help? If so please shoot me a PM.

The pricing actually makes sense... I am (somewhat) in the business of manufacturing and wholesale distribution, so I have a little perspective on this.

I heard about the CVT issue, I think they are probably a great company, the group buy was just much larger than expected. I'm really hoping to get this all setup.

Finally got a quote to get the tents to the US. $500 to ship the ten tents which adds 50 bucks to each tent. So were at 620 for each tent with an annex. The hard part now is figuring out shipping from Oakland CA to every one involved.

One member who has more experience than me (with international shipping) near Oakland has offered to help. If any one has any suggestions please let me know. Your going to pay 150-200 to ship from any other company so this is looking good for a huge savings.... Still a lot of logistics to figure out.
