You kidding - in may places it would be easier to communicate in Mexico where people are willing to speak English!

honest answer. i moved here with a sig226. i left all the other hardware in texas. i check the cal dept of justice. there is a webpage listing all legit firearms here. mine is cool, and i believe your's is too.

then i filled out a simple registration sheet, and poof! that was it. in a legal shooting (gets complicated), a cop told me..first thing they must do is to check to see if the gun is registered. you really want to be registered. i dont think it even cost a penny. long guns do not need any paperwork.

aficianado ~ Thanks for the info. Could you provide a copy of that list which shows the legit firearms? If not, could you please provide a link?
IMO California gun laws has a lot of restrictions. Hopefully Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger helps relieve some of these California gun laws since majority of his movies were gun action related  (I'll be back) :)

    Just enough, and never enough
sorry to Frankenstein this thread but this is not a correct statement. OP your XDm is legal to have here in CA. just get the mags pinned to ten rounds and you are fine. The roster only applies to NEW gun sales from the FFL. So in short you will be cool as long as there are no hi cap mags, simple as that. sorry OP that there is so much bs fud that is running rampant through this thread.

Edit: BTW XDm's are going for tons of money right now to own one in CA, so if i were you i would buy plenty of off roster firearms knowing that you can't buy them new here. just sayin
