I'd buy the Vortex you mentioned originally

I see your point. I just have it in my head that I want something with a lot of zoom. I have several food plots and a couple of clear cuts on my hunting lease that are relatively long range and I'm just thinking to myself that a high power zoom would be handy. Maybe I'm wrong? Oh, and the description of that scope says it has multi coated lenses.

10x and 12x scopes have plenty of zoom for what you'll be doing.;) Hell, even a 3-9x would serve you quite well.

Multi-coated and fully multi-coated are two different things.
Fully multi-coated means all surfaces have been treated....multi-coated means some of the surfaces have been treated.
Bushnell would only be labeled GOOD in the Elite series.
I would definitely buy the Vortex before the Bushy.

well seeing as you guys know your stuff about scopes can you recommend one for me as well i just got a Remington 700 VTR in win 308 and I'm gonna use it for long range target and deer season. max shot for deer is gonna be somewhere between 350 to 400 yards and i would like to stay under $300.

There some good scopes out there in that price range but the best bang for my buck that I found was the Konuspro.

Starting out at 6 on a scope is really to much. I have one on my 17, its great at a 100, but try getting on a squirrel up close is a little challenging sometimes if hes moving around. Especially cause with most scopes with alot of zoom have AO, and that sucks if your gonna make several different range shots.

On the 17 and 22 the bsa sweet series are great scopes but for larger calibers, you get what you pay for. jmo
