    Hey guys,

Gander Mtn has the Smith and Wesson M&P 15OR @ $699

Looking for input... At this price, would it be a good first AR? Anything better in that price range without building?

Thanks - I'm going to take a half-day from work today and go check it out...

I have a S&W OR as well and love it so far. I only have about 400 rounds through it, but even using crappy steel case ammo I have had no problems at all. I paid about $900 for mine (and i have the "compliant" version with a fixed stock and no muzzle break)

I shopped for a long time for that exact weapon and by far the best I found was $735. That's a smokin deal on a great rifle.

S&W MP 15's are extremely well made, durable, and functional. That price is awesome! Go for it, you do need some back up iron sites (BUIS) and/or red dot scope. Go with MagPul BUIS, they are a hell of a lot cheaper and well made. Don’t let the polymer scare you off. I've been through my share of AR's and M-series with work and personal life and I am very happy with my MP15. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up. (Also, Eotech and Aimpoint ARE the best you can buy.....BUT if you are not going to be using this weapon for the approaching Zombie Invasion in an all our war scenario, then save your money and do some research. There are well made cheaper red dots out there.) Personally I prefer my weapons to be "combat ready" at all times and don’t like furniture that will not hold up to the extremes. Although, this can get quite expensive.

I know this is going to be an old thread revival but does anyone else have any thoughts on the M&N 15 ? I went to Gander Mountain today to look at them but they are priced starting at $949.
