Nikon Monarch

I was wondering who has personal experience with these scopes. Clarity? Fog up? Anything, pros and cons, your opinion. I was looking at the 4-16x42. Any other suggestions?

I just bought a remington 700 sps (finally got a 700) and all the reveiws I've read were pretty good. Just want a couple more opinions from first hand users. Thanks guys.

I have two Monarchs...5.5-16x42 and 6.5-20x42.
I went into the store expecting to buy a Bushnell Elite 4200 and after a lot of time comparing Leupold vxIII, Bushnell Elite 4200 and Monarch, well....I bought two of them.
Clear and bright, no edge distortion all the way up to 20x.
Much larger eyebox than the other two.
Excellent scopes.
I will admit, they haven't been on a boomer...my poor Burris gets its'
ass kicked on a lightweight 300WSM and doesn't seem to mind.
Nikon has excellent warranty coverage, if you should need it.
You don't hear of Nikons being sent back as often as you hear Leupolds.
What price are you getting?

 

I have ProStaff 4-12X40 and i love it I was at the Shooting range a few weeks ago in the SF bay area and it was humid as hell my glasses were all fogged up but my scope had no fog.

 

I have a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 with the BDC on it and I love it! It is very clear and the BDC cross hair system seems to work pretty good and be accurate! I looked at the Monarchs but I think they were the ones that were out of my price range.

 

I've got one of the older models (3-9x40) on my Weatherby and it's been perfect for around ten years. I also have a Buckmaster (3-9x40) on a custom Ruger 10/22, it's not as bright as the Monarch, but not bad by any means.

 

I'm probably gonna order off-line cause usually, you can get a better deal.

I've done at least 8 deals with SWFA, well-regarded....

My uncle has a couple of those SWFA Super Sniper (?) scopes and he says he really likes them.

 

Super Sniper scopes are good, but I ended up going with a Konus Pro on my LTR .308. Holds really nice

If I could afford a good Nikon, I'd have one but I really like the Konuspro I'm sporting. It was the lowest priced fully, multi-coated lensed scope I could find.

 

I did compare then when choosing scopes for my 700 sps. I ended up choosing the Bushnell Elite 4200 simply due to the "raincoat" coating. The Nikon was the clearest optics of the scopes I compared. There was not a major difference between the 4 higher-end scopes I looked at.

I also own a Nikon Prostaff that I have been very happy with. It is on a lightweight .308 and has stood up well.
