Got a new rifle and jazzed it up a bit. Remington SPS 700 .308 varmint with a HS Revolution laminated thumbhole stock (has aluminum bedding), Zeiss Conquest 3x9x50, Leupold bases and rings. I would have liked to have a mil-dot scope with more magnification but I already had the Zeiss. Should shoot some pretty tight groups.

I used to put those stocks on my 10/22 whistle pig guns- I'd buy them rough cut and do all the final shaping and finishing. The only problem with them is the added weight.

It would have been, but whistle pigging in the high desert outside of Boise is often a walking proposition with a .22.

Thanks all. It will be doing a bit of bench and hunting. I have a Winchester Classic Featherweight in 30-06 for hunting where there will be a lot of hiking.
