Looking at buying my first bow

Looking at buying my first bow, obviously duck hunting is extremely exhilirating but i want to expand my skills towards deer hunting and hog hunting, my brother and two friends all have mathews bows, just wondering what else can really come close to a mathews bow lookin at the mathews monster 70# the only other bow i would think would be the quest g5 any suggestions for what to ask the guys behind the counter or what to look for in a bow

X2, and IIRC they are a whole lot cheaper, correct me if I'm wrong. I'd look into a starter bow and then when you get very proficient I'd look for a high end bow like a Matthews Z7. I have a PSE Stinger (1st bow, got it last December) and I couldn't be happier.

Ross Archery

Don't overlook Ross Archery. I have a Matthews Outback, and my buddy has a ross bow. It shoots good, and is MUCH quieter than my outback.

ADude go shot as many as you can then decide. Forget the name on the bow and buy the one that feels the best. Hoyt, mathews, pse, bowtech, elite, ect all make great bows I do not think you can really say x is the best bow on the market but you could say x bow feels the best in my hands

You want a good starter "kit"?

I have an Alpine bow, single cam, 60#, set for 29" draw, I used it intermittently for 2- 3 seasons and went back to recurve and long bow (Bear and Viper), comes with limb savers, a good shock absorber, release, true-center gage, a half dozen arrows and a carrying case for it all. send me an email/PM I'll send pictures. $250. I'm on the other side of the beltway from you, north of silver spring by about 8 miles.

You can beat the heck out of this (I didn't, it's pristine), and decide if you want to get smaller, lighter, way more expensive or what.

I've stuck with .308 and longbow mostly this past 7 years or so. I'd love to see this go to a good home.

Norm
