    x2..we'll still get our 1.9%

it's not limited to just that one style of firing. the article says it can be incremented to any distance.

Bombs, and the aircraft they come from, are the opposite of cheap.

Not to mention response time - if this weapon works, it could be a "Specialist Smith, smoke those guys in that ditch/behind that wall" and it's done type of weapon. You can't plan to always have air support on tap.

    .

IMO ... not that heavy for what it does and it weighs about the same as a loaded M-14.

A lot of 130 - 150 lb. guys carried M-14s (and gear and ammo) around the bush in RVN all day long.

Well I carried close to a gallon of water on patrol. 12 pounds may not seem like much but how much does the ammo weigh? Now add that to everything else you are carrying. Some of my dismounted patrols lasted for 12-18 hours. This doesn't include LP/OP's where we would sit in a house or a hide for the night. If you haven't had to carry 90 pounds of body armor, magazines of ammunition, hand grenades, water, metal detectors, pyrotechnics, GPS and a bunch of other crap that I can't think of at the moment, all while worrying about whether or not you will get blown up/shot at, then you just don't understand my bitching about weight.

how about we get the SCAR out to the ground pounders first! spec ops get the goods first then handed down to the lower sticks. stuff like this is probably already out to the elite just like the SCAR was. i'll stick to my MK 19 to and to blow shit up!

Not to mention the sheer size of that beast. Good luck getting over a wall with that. Here's a m-79 for comparison.

I just found the video on that thing. The casualty radius of those rounds is ridiculously small. 40mm isnt that great let alone 25mm.
