Gun Safes

So i'm starting to look for a fire rated gun safe for, obviously guns but also important documents and personal belongings. the ones im looking at are around the 24 gun size and around $1000. just wandering what people here have and pros/cons on different safes. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

i have a liberty its the one with the 45 min fire rating. and i like it. it has bolts on 3 sides and seems relatively hard to break into

just fyi, my dad has a fire safe thats bigger than a full size refridgerator. the cons of that are that it weighs 7424550 tons but they are fire proof

 

Bighorn 1200/70 minute. Much less than a Liberty of the same fire protection level.

 

Buy one bigger than you need, it'll fill up quicker than you think, I know mine did. Now, again, I've got guns stashed all over the house, with the safe stuffed to the gills.

just looked at those online and i must say i like them. i definitely want to go check them out at the nearest dealer sometime

thats what i hear. i only have 3 guns at the moment so a 24 gun safe should be plenty dig enough for those and all our important personal stuff for now. i do plan on adding to my gun collection eventually and i wanted a safe that should suit my needs for many years without out growing it.

 

We have a Liberty Franklin 35 - nice safe!!! It came with a really neat pistol organizer that attaches to the inside of the door. We got the combo lock.

 

what are some pros/cons of combo vs. electronic locks

 

electronic is quicker and easier to get into

 

is one harder to break into than the other?

 

a little much for my one gun....

 

Mechanical combo lock takes longer but less prone to failures.

Don't you worry....they will multiply!!!

We've only had the safe for a year...and the family grew by 4!!!

 

Call your local 'safe' shop or call the Safe companies in general.... like Liberty, etc.

In terms of breaking into a safe... Watch some Youtube videos. There's some amazing shots of people ripping 'em open on purpose just to show how easy it can be done to some of them.

 

No safe is fireproof.
The only difference in fire rating is how many sheets of drywall they put in it.
Don't waste money on fire rating.
A trip to Home Depot and $20 will improve 'fire rating' if that's what you're after.
In re security...they only keep the honest people out.
And buy bigger than what you think you need.
