new revolver

Just bought a S&W Bodyguard .38+P. Mixed reviews on other forums, any experiences here?

 

I'm asking for experiences with this handgun. Anyone who has any knows what it looks like.

 

Is it the hammerless one?

 

i dont know what it looks like. i actually wanted my next purchase to be a revolver....

 

Im picking up a 438 tomorrow as well. Would like to hear anyones experiences as well.

 

I have an S&W airlight 38spcl its hammerless and its flawless. I dont know about their auto loaders but you cant go wrong with the revolvers.

 

Who's offering mixed reviews on a S&W snubbie? They're the king of pocket carry guns, hands down. I bought a 637, bought a factory replacement hammer and bobbed it since the spur got in the way on the draw. I also put a wolff reduced power spring kit in it and polished the rebound slide for a nice smooth pull.

I've carried it every day for about 6 years and have no complaints. It like Speer 135 gr GDSB, Hornady Critical Defense and the light CorBons. Black Hills 148 gr wadcutters are pussycats to shoot and are laser accurate though they dirty it up real good. I usually shoot a box or two of them when it's time to clean and rotate ammo.

Edited to add - they've muddied the waters this year with their new top-latch snubbie and 380 ACP semi-auto, both of which they call a bodyguard as well. I assumer you're talking about the "humpback" airweight with the shrouded hammer that you can still shoot single action. If you mean the new toplatch model, I can't comment on durability since it's basically a brand new design.

 

Hey you can't go wrong with an S&W

 

no experience with that particular model.
It is pretty new.
I am not a fan of laser sights, but can understand the appeal.
I would encourage training without it so point-n-shoot becomes instinctive.
For the price diff, I'd take a 642/442.
Buy what you like.

I have the Bodyguard 380 ACP. Had it about a couple months now and only shot about 100rounds out of it so far. Been doing practice drills at home. Nice piece.....easy to work with.

 

I think this is the one he bought. I just bought this gun a couple of weeks ago but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

 

I would choose the Ruger LCR .357 model over any smith all day long. Better trigger, handles recoil better and smaller. Ruger did it right.

My buddy got his wife one. He likes it. I pulled the trigger to get a feel for it But have not shot it. Light as hell. I may have to pick one up for a pocket gun some day.

 

Definitely not the ruger. I can attest first hand to that. full house .357, no issue.

My Colt .38sp has probably a 10-12lb trigger. My buddy's bodyguard was much lighter. If I were to guess, I'd say 8-9lbs. No way in heck was it 14lbs.

 

I think the OP needs to launch post #9 and let us know which model he bought before we all waste our breath talking about different revolver lines. That's my biggest gripe with the new Bodyguard line - you couldn't have come up with a name that isn't already associated with a completely different line of pistols? Lame.

 

I had the air weight hammerless S&W, sold it. I liked the way it carried, but hell, that thing hurt to shoot it.
