Slow and fat. I agree. G30 or G36.
I think the 1911's are overated for carry. Kimbers, Baers, wilsons, daily's and even springfields.

I used to carry a springfield operator for fall/carry which I recently sold. I loved the weight, the feel, the grip. Everything about that gun was perfect. Cept the carry issue.

at 6', 200 lbs, a full size 1911 is just about impossible for carry and being comfortable at the same time. jmo.

Just curious what people have against Kimber? I used to have one, it was great and I'm thinking of buying another.

For "stopping power," I always admired the .45ACP. It's done its job pretty well for decades and decades, particularly in FMJ form.

Will a .45 stop a bear? YES, if you put your shots in the vital areas. This applies to any other caliber.

You can carry whatever the fuck you want, you just gotta be good with putting the rounds on vital areas.

I shoot 9mm because that's all I could afford right now and I'm comfortable with it. I will shoot .40 and .45 once I have stable income coming in.

My friend has a GLOCK 21SF and he likes it. High capacity, reliable .45 for under $600. Can't beat that! Kimbers are damn nice but you gotta have mullah mullah $$$.

    back to bone stock.
come to think of it. my G21SF was more difficult to locate for my dealer because it was a Cali gun. one equipped with 10 round mags, not 13.

(mine are really 9.5 round mags :()

Possibly only in soft tissue areas. Chances are if a Grizzly is charging at you and you're lucky enough to get some shots off, you'll most likely be pointing center mass. Center mass is most likely gonna be his skull. A .45 acp round, especially hollow point, will most likely not have enough power to penetrate his/her skull. You want a hard cast 300 plus grain bullet, normally found in a 44 mag or higher caliber.

Sorry Andrew, we seemed to hit a rabbit trail on that one.

Contact my buddy Brian Kovacs (908) 917-2990, tell him I referred you from this site. He knows me very well. He's a licensed domestic firearms dealer and can get pretty much any Glock you want.

if you want something to shoot a bear with forget 45acp it's too slow and will just piss the bear off

step it up and get a 10mm, i have both G20 and 29SF, you want something with power this is where it ends in semi autos unless you want a gold plated desert eagle, either way it's hard to argue with 15+1 of 10mm

200gr bullet doin 1300fps with over 850ft lbs of energy, with about 12 inches of hold over at 250yds, try that with a .45

everyone knows 40 S&W (short and weak) is just a girly version of 10mm (ask the FBI, that's where it came from)

if you do get a G21SF you might wanna aviod the one with the 1913 rail on it, they're harder to find holsters for

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
It's the Tacomaworld for Glock fanboys.
Glocks are known for issues in 40sw for not having a fully-supported case head.
Bad juju for a high-CUP round.
    Why Glock?
How bout a nice SA XD?
Who posted the AR15 for bear protection?....I blew coffee out my nose.
    I love this forum.....

A few weeks ago, I shot a Kimber 9mm, a 45 (can't remember the brand), and an SA XD-40 and the XD-40 was by far my favorite. It fit me well (5'7" 150lbs small hands)

I really didn't care for Kimber very much. It didn't feel right in my hands.

Guns are very person specific though. Each person has one they like better.

I have a Glock 21SF, 34 and 35 with thousands of rounds thru each with no problems...as for a .40 vs .45 what do you want to do with it? A backup weapon? Your primary? Concealed or target plinking? I am actually in the market for a concealed weapon myself and have narrowed my choices down to either the 27 or 36...someone above said to go out and fire your choices...with my love for Glocks, I have to say the best .45 I have ever fired was my buddies full size HK USP .45...very very nice and smooth...good luck to you on any of the Glocks..you won't go wrong.
