    Around here morel mushrooms start appearing mid May. So soon we'll start hunting them down morels like damp areas that are usually shaded. Like woods near lakes, and streams. They are great sauteed with some onion on steaks.

    Northern Michigan we would could hunting for Morels every Spring...my Uncle would always spot them from a mile away while we were standing right on top of them!!!

    I think its been too cool for them yet. I have heard of a few that have been found west of Iowa city, like 45 min. Or so. Keep looking!

    i have about 4 places i go because i KNOW that they will be there. i have been to the res a couple times, but there is just too many people out there. dont really feel like going to an over picked spot. where i have been working (over by sqire point)((dubuque st)) been looking on my luch break 1o min at a time.
