    Went old school!

Old timer 50T! I oiled it. The pivots. And then just gave it a few swipes on a spyderco sharp maker. Holy crap. This thing is a razor. It is the perfect size. I'm wearing better jeans and I'm happy not to tear the pockets up with a clip. I'll EDC this to see if it works for me. I don't know if this is carbon steel. The blade is tarnished. I saved it from a box headed to the Goodwill donation.

I just started making a knife yesterday. I think it's going well so far, considering I have no clue what I'm doing.

Hey guys I was hoping someone could recommend me a good folding knife. I'm planning on using it at a EDC, using while camping, and maybe using it to clean up an animal while hunting.

I'm hoping to keep it at a reasonable price around 50$ so I'm not looking for anything really fancy. Just a tough simple knife.

There's about a trillion of them for $50. You might take a look at knife makers and let us know what blade style you like and what handle materials you want. Do you want something that looks mean? Or are you into traditional looking pocket knives like grandad carried? You a Swiss Army/multi tool camping/utility type of guy? Off the top of my head, the Kershaw Cryo and Blur would be popular all-around knives for <$50.

Thanks for the help man :)

I'm looking for a simple flip blade like the two you mentioned. I like the steel grip and I like the mean look. The main thing I am looking for though is a quality knife.

I like the Cryo but I have seen some really really bad reviews so that sort of scared me away.

Could you recommend some good knife manufacturers for me to check out

Anyone have any experience with this knife http://www.crkt.com/pazoda-large-folding-pocket-knife

A metal handle is going to limit you a bit - not as common as other materials these days. Kershaw probably has the most options for a metal handle knife for $50. The leek is popular, a good pocket size but not super durable, especially the tip. If you're not married to the metal handle, check out the Spyderco Delica - really lightweight and great for the pocket but a wicked slicer with good steel. The hole in the blade makes it open really fast. Starts at about $55. Benchmade mini griptilian is another good knife at that price point.
