It is an obvious reason, but not really justified reason.

What would a good reason be for an early 20's guy living in suburbia want a CCW in the eyes of the police department and DOJ?

I've been wanting to get my CCW ever since I turned 21, but I need to come up with some valid reasons why I would "need" a CCW and I think "I want to protect myself, my family and my property from harm" isn't a valid enough reason.

In Cali, you must qualify under all three criteria, Good Cause, Good Moral Character and Residency.

    GOOD CAUSE

You must have Good Cause as defined by the Attorney General Opinion of 1974 or that falls within the written guidelines defined in your department's policy. There is no one Good Cause as everyone's need is different. It has to be sufficient to convince a jury or Judge that your need satisfies the Policy or is as good as or better than others issued by the department. Many departments have 'Dual Issue', policies illegal under the 14th Amendment or 'No Issue', policies illegal under Salute v Pitchess and sometimes under the 14th Amendment depending on its application and implementation. Our job is to thoroughly investigate the department and do a Forensic examination of the existing CCW files for violations of Policy and statute. If they exist, you may have a viable case for State or Federal court.

This is getting way off topic from my original post, and I know I am fueling the fire. But this is why I like living in Texas, none of the bullshit you are describing.

What you describe above is ridiculous. It sounds like they are trying to justify carrying a gun. My original statement is enough. Lets apply it to car insurance, does "I want to protect myself, my family and my property from harm" apply there? Is that a justified reason for having car insurance?? Or home insurance??

YES. It is, and most would agree.

Here in az you do not need a ccw permit, but its recommended you take a class if your not to bright.

wish i would carry more, but here in az its not easy to conceal on your persons cause of the heat. Usually have something in my truck.

I carry my brain everyday, 90% the time it will serve you far better than a gun.
But in the case of unavoidable violence, i carry a Kimber Ultra CDPII.

I have a concealed license to carry and I keep a double-action Smith & Wesson Model 29 .44-cal. Magnum revolver in my truck - don't break in on me unless you want to drip water when you drink it.

Just barely got my CCL last month I have carried my Glock 23, Kimber Pro Carry, and H&K P30. I just got my Comp-Tac MTAC today for my P30 and I really like this holster and will be my main carry.

Recently was "strongly encouraged" to switch from a Glock 19 for purposes of political correctness and bought a Gen 3 Glock 23. After years of shooting a 9 mm I think I'm going to go the Gen 4 with the double recoil spring. I'm having trouble with keeping up to speed doing double taps with the .40 and I understand the double recoil spring reduces the muzzle rise and snap of the .40. The pistol does seem to like the Federal 180 grain HSTs I'm feeding it.

Comments? Anyone with experience with both Gen 3 and Gen 4?

We don't feel the need up here in Canada to carry(with some exceptions) so a hockey stick does the job and you are less likely to take a life over a minor misunderstanding and too quick a temper.

carried a smith 686 357 wheel gun for a few years, switched to a .40 smith, (duty weapons) last 22 years. almost never carry off duty, probably suprising to most people.
