I am packing the Colt Defender 45 ACP in a custom built pancake holster for inside the waist line. Single stack and big bore, just what the Doctor ordered.

I've been Jones'ing over this since it came out. After a crazy as f**K person threatened me at work I went ahead a bought one.

Shoots low probably due to the trigger pull. Got better with it the more I shot it. Trigger started to feel better. Put a Crimson Trace sight on it and shot it twice with it.

Couple of problems. About the second time I shot it I notice erratic groupings. The rear sight was loose. Easy fix but I shouldn't have this problem with as essentially new gun.

Later I was cleaning the gun and notice the front sight was slightly to one side. Ah ha. That explains some of my inaccuracy. Easy fix.

Last time at the range trying to sight in the laser. It seems after a while the laser wouldn't line up with the front sight. Found out when the gun was warm I could move the front sight with my hand!

I have to say that I am disappointed with this gun. I've sent it back to Ruger. I'll see what happens. I've never had to send a new gun in.

Two new Springfield's last year after my other pistols were stolen; they're bulletproof. .45 XDM for the house and the 9 mm XDM subcompact to carry. I wanted something smaller I would consistently carry.

If I had to do it again I would pony up the bank for the Springfield EMP

I like what Whitster is saying and it aligns with the OP...single stacks are going to be easier to cc.
According to the experts, most engagements won't require the capacity of a doublestack.
Trying to keep the thread on the subject the OP asked.

...along with the next 3 or 4 folks standing behind him, and maybe a few walls along the way. 'Bout the same as a .357 mag.
    Is that what you want?

A 9 is a 9 a .45 will take your target down, not hit them in the chest and have to watch them bleed out shake a leg.
A 44 mag will just keep going. When or if you have to shoot the 44 will keep going. Just for me I like the old ACP .45. Then get your 12 or 5.56 what ever you need at that time.

If you carry a Glock dont be stupid and use one of those shitty clip draws. Be safe and use a holster.

I couldn't imagine using one of those silly things on any type of firearm.

I was looking at the P290 myself. I had a Sig 228 and loved it, but the price tag on that little pocket 9 was steep. It is a Sig though. So you get what you pay for. Went with my Kahr Instead.

I had one on my H&K P30 for a few years and loved it. Never had an issue with it. (granted, I am a slim guy and it tough to "conceal" some my my firearms.)

Now I am carrying my M&P 9mm, looking for something for the wife thats a little slimmer. I'd like to get a M&P compact, but its still pretty thick.

I carry a PF9. It's very accurate for it's size. The recoil is abit strong. But its designed to be a SDW so that's to be expected. As for carry, I forget it's there most of the time IWB, which is what you want in a CCW. My FFL carries the p238 and that is a very impressive weapon aswell. All comes down to what do you want to spend.
