I believe you can point a weapon in Georgia, if someone is on your private property (yard - not car parked in public place) committing a felony and they don't immediately bolt when they see you. So I am with RModel on that. Shoot them, NO, not unless they show intent to harm by pulling a gun or advancing on you with some other potential weapon. So that's why I would stay as far away as possible to make it clear they attacked me.

And if they break into your house with occupants inside, doesn't matter what's in their hand. It is assumed they intend to maim, kill or rape with or without bare hands.

you can only point a pistol with legal justification

you could point a gun at someone committing a forcible felony

basically if you point a gun at someone without legal justification then its a crime....forcible felony would be like someone getting stuck up..someone just out on your property stealing say a 4 wheeler is probably not enough without it being forcible. In South GA would you be convicted for doing so in most counties probably not but somewhere like metro atlanta would be a whole other ballgame

here is what the GA code says about protecting your home

Let a black mamba roam your cabin.

I am fortunate and park in a garage at home and my job has a security gaurd and cameras. I definitley wouldnt advertise you have a gun because crumbos be in it in a heartbeat. If a lot is shady I drop the wife off at door and drive around till I find a safe secure spot or I wont leave it.

Since you live in Texas most people assume you have a gun anyway.:D My advertisement that I am carrying is my Texas license plates.
    YMMV,
