Leaking Waders... ??

Im going to start duck hunting regularly next season and my dad's friend down the road from me gave me a pair of nice, like new, LaCrosse neoprene waders that he bought to wear while riding his fourwheeler and only wore them twice before he sold it!

The only problem is that he kept them under his shed and the weather has gotten to the top part of the boots and dry-rotted them, so when I put them on and tested them in a pond, water was getting in through the dry rots. Is there anything i can put on, or dip the boots in to stop the leaking? I just hate to see a nice pair of wader go to waste..

Not trying to be a smart ass, but, a pair of leaking waders don't seem nice to me. There may very well be a method of sealing/patching them, IDK. Just the statement struck me as funny.

 

sounds like the boots are attached yes? probably difficult to repair if they are dry rotting.

 

epoxy them up. or some other type of rubber cememt. . . also for actual holes, my brother and my friends use a tire plug haha.

 

Id also advise to stay away from neoprene. you will sweat your nuts off. I lived out in colorado for a good number of years and didnt even wear neoprene waders when fly fishing. Id suggest going another route.

 

Yea, I just ment that the neoprene's never seen mud, water, or anything .. I just dont want to buy a new pair of waders if i end up only going once or twice.

Shoe goo might work.

 

I was thinking something like this. On a duck hunting forum someone said they coated each boot in pipe glue haha

 

Shoe Goo is some good stuff, be sure to clean/scuff the surrounding areas before applying.

neoprene queen is the best. i use it for my wetsuits..well my old one with like 5 holes in it. you can get it offline since i dont know if you live near a coast with dive and surf shops where it is reaily avalible. the problem here is you reconnecting neoprene to boot...i suggest heavy duty sewing then goop it up with neoprene queen

well usually you duck hunt in the winter so if he just uses it for that thennn....and i assum MS stands for minnasota...gets cold there. but yes they can get aweful hot

 

I HOPE it's just on the boot. But i'll try shoe goo tomorrow and see what happens. It's worth a shot either way.
