no, it doesn't mean you have to pay a lot of money. and we all know you should never assume anything. expensive doesn't make it better, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

i have a jensen 22lr pistol, that has never had any malf. i have had colts that were expensive to get them working reliably.

i have owned several taurus pistols, and they have all proven to be quality guns. are you saying taurus is not a quality gun? i disagree. taurus has used the proven designs of many manufacturers, and improved upon them also. they have brought many innovative firearms to market.

i admire glocks for what they are, but perfection, not to me. awesome pistol? oh yes they are. very rugged and reliable. and proven? yes they are.

1911 pistols, are they perfect? no, but that is what i like.

i like my pistols to be 1911 style, because i grew up with them, trained with them in the army, and i think they are sexy too :p, especially when they have a horsey on them.

I mean.. 1911's have the best trigger on the market no doubt about it, but do you carry one everyday? I cant get past mag capacity personally but thats the only thing I have against 1911's ... and maybe the weight

haha who cares? we're not talking about a sports car here, it's a tool and it always works, the same cant be said about the 1911 platform unless you're gonna drop $2500 on a wilson combat 1911, for that price i'll buy 5 "ugly" glocks that'll run out of the box no matter what, go drop your pretty 1911 in the mud/dirt and then see how cool it is when you try to shoot 8 shots out of it

    Here's a different kind horsey on a .45.

Rich Wyatt had it in his Gunsmoke shop a couple years ago, yup, same Rich Wyatt as in American Guns on History Channel. They paid Ferrari some $$ to allow them to do it.

I guess there's no standard for the feds- my old nextdoor neighbor is an Air Marshall, and he was issued a Sig 22something in 357sig

    it's probably department dependent...

further reading indicates that the US Marshals who are SOG get a Springfield TRP 1911 but it's certainly not the mainstream issued firearm

Geez so much hate on 1911 and glocks.

I'm with kessler89 here. If I had to choose 1 pistol for combat/war/duty/home defense I'd go with a glock. You can't beat round capacity and reliability. Second choice would probably be a sig, accurate and reliable.
I got a 1911 myself, love it and all but 7-8 rounds isn't much.

I would go with the .45, Glock 21. Been carrying one at work every day for the past 10 years. It goes bang every time I pull the trigger. Never had a failure or stoppage.

I am a 1911 guy, have baby hands, and I love the M&P (I own both a 9mm and 45ACP.) You should try one. I'd meet ya up at Allen if you wanted to try one out.

Just don't do this with your 1911...

according to a friend of mine who is a deputy marshal...you get issued a glock .40 cal

you can carry that until you can get onto a special team at which point you get issued the 1911 like i stated

he also said that they dont do special weapon requests
