Rock river makes a AR47, which uses AK mags, and is chambered for 7.62x39

    A AR-10 is chambered in 308

.300 AAC Blackout is basically in line with the 7.62x39. A lot of times I read ballistics charts that say the 300BLK is slightly underpowered compared to the 7.62, but some people seem to have measured otherwise, like these folks:
    http://300aacblackout.com/resources/300-BLK.pdf

Obviously a biased source. I don't own anything chambered in 300BLK but it's a lot like a 300-caliber AK style round, but with a casing that the AR platform was designed to feed. There are also sub-sonic loads available, which looks soooooo fun when suppressed.

I just got my rifle finished chambered in 300BLK. Haven't fired any rounds through it, but will report back once I do.

If you are going 7.62x39, why not just get a under folder AK. If you are talking 7.62 NATO then I am out, because I know nothing about that caliber or rifles that use it.
