the rear slides out.

check out glocktalk.com

the front site I put on (ameriglo) cane with a tool which as stated above is a hex or octagon (cant remember) screw head

Mine has the hexagon screw on the front. Is there a special tool to take that screw out?

How does the rear come out? Like I said, I'd rather not fawk anythig up.

The front uses a very small screw driver/nut driver and the rear presses out. I would have someone else do the rear but thats just me. Read back a couple of posts Wolf Pack said that he has done it. Also, look at some of these online retailers such as Lone Wolf, Glock Werx Etc so you can see what these tools looK like. You may already have something that will work.

Unless you plan on doing a bunch pay someone else $20 +/- to do it for you. If your a firefighter you should know some PD people, check with them first. If they can't get it done they may have a good reference for you to check out.

And don't forget if you buy them localy you should be able to get them installed for free.

weird that they say you can't send in your OEM slide, but they offer you an option to send in your glock slide. I would call them and ask first

next question..I was out buying some ammo today to stock up for my hopeful trip to the range this weekend. The gentleman behind the counter said that there is a specific break in process for the glocks..fire 10 rounds, 1 minute apart, 10 rounds 2 minutes apart, then finally 10 rounds 3 minutes apart..About 500 rounds and he says the gun is "broken in"..Something about the heating/cooling process will "harden" the barrel. Is he right, or is there something else to it?

Never heard of such non sense. That guy sounds like a douche bag. Some guns do have a break in period suggested only so that they can be tested for reliability by the owner. For example Kahr Arms I believe has a 200 round suggested break in and it's only so that parts can be "mated together" (In a sense) and tested for function and reliability.

I just ordered some new night sites, and the tools to put them on. Few friends have guns with the dove tail mounted rear site, so I see this tool comming in handy.

Never heard of that break in process before. I broke in my glock by shooting 2 mags and letting it cool while I was reloading those mags.

i broke my glock in with 600 fmjs

and that was the first time at the range. 3 months later i had 3,000 rds thru it. this October will be almost 2 years. its been thru hell and mud, dirt and grime, water, and the abuse of more than 5,000 rds. i love my 23 gen 4. GLOCK for me there is no substitute. Its the ak of pistols, (except its not comparable to the heaviness of the AK)or the cheap chinese knock offs

Yep,
Im a fanboy

I went to a local "pro shop" today..Asked the guy behind the counter(shop not busy I may add), about 15rd 9mm mags..Says they dont make them for the g17..I asked him if the 15rd mag from the g19 would work..says no, barely even looking at me...Well, to just humor myself I asked him about 9mm ammo, since NO one has it in stock besides a little sporting goods store by my house. Apparently theres a member and non member price(they have a shooting range there)..I say non member, he blurts out $30 a box..I didnt ask what brand, just said thanks, and walked out...Im paying 14.99 a box for american eagle 9mm at the little sporting goods store..Thats the second time I've been in that "pro shop" and probably the last.

Im seriously considering buying bulk ammo, but have heard about how reloads arent reliable and such..I dont want to spend $2-300 on ammo, and not have it be reliable.

No offense to you because your from Jersey, but 99% of the people I've meet from Jersey were douche bags. Check out the online retailers, sgammo.com, natchezss.com and gunbroker.com. G19 mags wont work in a 17 because they are too short. However if you had a G26 you could use any Glock mag in the same caliber. Some people have used 40 mags to shoot 9mm with success.

i agree with the doucheknocker part..Most are. Another reason why I want to move. lol.

I just want to find a damn 15 round mag..My 17 came with one, and I may go back to the place I bought it from and see if they can get me another one. These dinky 10 round mags dont cut it.

I was on glockstore.com, and I can get a +2 adapter for the same price I can buy a new mag for..totally not worth it. I wish this state wasnt so shitty and let us have hi cap mags.

You do not want to fire non-jacketed ammo through a Glock, or any pistol with polygonal barrel rifling. The lead will gum up the barrel and can cause problems. Glock, Kahr, and HK specifically advise against using non jacketed ammo.

As for break-in, shoot it as much as you can to practice and keep it reasonably clean. It's a Glock, after all, and made to work in adverse conditions. I would recommend that you select your carry round and fire 50-100 rounds to make sure that your particular pistol feeds, fires, and ejects properly.

Stay safe.

Chris

ETA: The Glock 17 uses a 17 round magazine, the Glock 19 uses a 15 round magazine.

OOOHHHHHHHH it's a Jersey thing. Yea one more reason to hate Jersey. Try the shop you got it at and look on line, ombexpress.com or ombguns.com and botachtactical.com, natchezss.com and even ebay. Not sure if anyone will ship it to you if theres a law there. Ebay may be your best bet because people aren't as strict about their shipping polices. Don't pay more than $30 per mag. If you can't get what you want it may be time for a trip out of state. If your going high capicity you might as well get the 17 rounders.

No one will ship a mag over 15 rounds to jersey..most places i have looked have it very boldly stated in the magazine section. I just wonder if i went to cabelas if i can buy one..it would be nice to have at least a 17 round, but im not going to risk getting caught with it..not worth loosing anything over.

Here in Massachusetts, it is a FELONY to possess a pre AWB "pre-ban" high capacity magazine. I would guess that NJ has a similar law. I don't care how bad NJ firearms laws are. MA has the worst in the nation.

Na, no high round mags allowed, period. Anything over 15 will get ya into trouble..even the guys with ar15's cant have over 15 rounds..hell even our shotguns are required to have plugs in them to only hold 3 rounds.
