watched the vid, here is how i see it:

    * assuming he was OC'ing in an allowed area, and following the letter of the law *

    1) dozens of people jaywalked across the street, all the while these cops were tied up w/ a presumably law abiding citizen

    2) how many cops, 5, 6? were tied up w/ this one guy who wasn't breaking the law, when they could've been doing real police work?

    3) these cops behaved like complete jackasses, especially the one that came in a disarmed him...

    4) thankfully w/ youtube and the internet, these stories get out and go viral, and hopefully the numbnuts that run that city feel the blunt of the outrage...

    5) it's unfortunate that the cops in some localities really don't know the law, and abuse their power w/out blinking an eye, ...the only way to stop it is to bring pressure on the leadership, local politicians, or sue the municipality/department...

open carry has been known to be a deterrent to would be attacks/robberies - the most recent prominent case was at a waffle house in georgia, where two regular customers, who always OC'ed there, actually deterred a band of armed robbers, who were caught waiting in their car outside, noticed the OCers and didn't want to go in...

i'm not stating whether i'm a proponent of OCing in general or not, ...just making a relevant comment on it being a deterrent...

Guy is being confrontational and the comments from his video recorder dont help his case.

Regardless of whether the police department was in the right or wrong, the situation would have been a lot shorter if the guy had simply cited the carry law in his area, rather than calling and asking for "A real cop" and calling bullshit on everything.

Honestly looks like some dope looking to make it big on youtube. In my state open carry was recently approved. However you can still get cited for public disturbance if someone feels threatened/uneasy because of it.

if he wasnt harassed then no one would have ever been the wiser...but because they recorded the encounter of his rights being violated he is somehow trying to make it big??

also carrying openly can not be a public disturbance ever...numerous court have ruled and even federal courts have awarded monies based on that false premise

This thread isn't about whether you agree with oc but how stupid everyone in the video is. The guy should have said the law that allowed him to carry and then shut his mouth. The cop disarming him is a complete jackass as is the rest of the bunch. Good thing it's on tape for our amusement.

Another d-bag open carry "I know my rights so I'll cause a scene" gun owner. Great for the cause. The only purpose this video served is to give liberals ammunition to show how crazy gun owners are. The guy is obviously losing his cool while he has a gun strapped to his hip.

Hide your weapon like normal people so you don't alarm others and make yourself a target. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

"It has been known to be a deterrent due to this one example". If the robbers didn't go in, then how are they robbers? How do you know they weren't open carrying? What if the robbers walked in and immediately drew on the two OC guys since they already let the cat out of the bag? "HEY WE HAVE GUNS! LOOK AT US!"

I carry my pistol everywhere, but no one needs to know.

yup. you have ccw for a reason. i carry everywhere i go and nobody ever says shit, because they can't see it. face it people if somebody sees a man walking down the street in the morning open carrying they're gonna call the police-its the world we live in. everybody is terrified of guns and don't realize that not every person with a gun is crazy.

also cops were wrong, the one who said "your fixin to get the shit beat outta you" i would have his badge. this will go to court and i hope they lose you can't lose your cool just because he did, he was trying to make a scene and when the last cop showed up it worked did it not? that cop lost his cool and will prob be on admin leave once the video is shown in court.

i think there is evidence supporting both sides... this issue here however, is w/ abuse of authority, ...and even if you don't support the guy's "style", it should concern you whenever cops can arrest you for doing no wrong...
