house was a no go. had to put em in the garage. feels better knowing they are bolted to concrete instead of wood. the little one damn near weighs as much as the big one, with all the brass sitting in it.
but i am very happy with these safes. they catch a lot of flak online, but they are fire rated for 1200 for 30 mins, and burgular rated also. And i got them at home depot so 12 months interest free financing. and they have plugs and usb ports inside the safe pre-wired.

I would recommend one of these. They are fire safes too. They are rated for much hotter than typical house fires get and for longer burn times than most safes. The quality is number 1. I've had mine for about 5 years now and the peace of mind I get knowing things that I could never replace have a chance to survive a fire or thief is really nice. I would just spring for the full floor safe if that's what you eventually want anyways. Hope this helps.

I purchased a Sturdy safe and recommend it to everyone looking to buy a safe. Don't know if they fit into your budget but their safes are "no fluff" and are made to function. The quality of this safe is far superior to any safe I have seen at Bass Pro (or anywhere else).

    Check them out at: www.sturdysafe.com

I went to dicks and they had a field and stream 32+6 safe for like $700. It's a really good deal. I don't even jar to talk me wife into it. She picked the thing out. So we will be going soon to pick it up. It's also fire rated and only weighs 500lbs

    man..i researched this to death.

i bought a Sturdy..and yes, if you order..you get to talk to that "eye candy" that is parading around on their website.

i looked at them all. i immediately wrote off any and all China made safes. sheetrock or cement as a firestop? fuck that..

my sturdy is butt ugly. but the construction just makes sense. real fire stop. outside hinges..(hinges dont play into the safe safeness) if you need a pict to explain this PM me..hate how companies tell you inside hinges are safe from torch attack..stupid.

if you buy a Sturdy..make them use a black dial, with white tics and numbers. the silver with black is just about impossible to see in a dark place..like a closet. DUH! i have to wear a headlamp. stupid on my part. they were very very good at keeping up communications during the purchase. the biggest truck ever..semi tractor trailer showed up at my house to drop it off..have pizza, beer and alot of buds over to help. it is a mother fucker in weight.

youtube those guys breaking into a chinese safe. it is comical.

i bought a small one. i 27x23 of floor space taken up. fits 11 long guns, with the interior options i chose. there is one size smaller..fairly priced!!

honestly, a cheap safe will keep out the meth-heads..but i am more worried about the more organized burglar.

oh! a regular safe..not for long guns.

my parents bought one CHEAP used. they had a locksmith mix the combination up a tad. mom still has it!! the thing was a behemoth in terms of weight. i might go and get it, next summer. i bet this thing was built in the 60's.

find one used! regular safes are easier to find.
