I have a bunch of this ammo.

Thanks. Those are the same problems I heard about. My buddy works at a gun shop in Houston and has built up several of these and states he has the mag and bolt issues licked. I will post pics and issues/solutions when I get the components together. If it completely sucks. I will serve as a warning to others. I was looking for a cheaper trash round for plinking and three gun stuff. I also have a pile of ammo in this caliber.

I wouldn't waste my time with the 7.62x39 on an AR-15 platform. I have never heard anything good about them. Also, I recently did a 6x45 conversion on a 5.56 M&P15. I wouldn't recommend it either if anyone tries to persuade you. I have yet to see any real benefits other then the obvious, but with what I've gained, I have lost in other areas.

You should check out the Remington 6.8 SPC. It is a hell of a round and will take on a 7.62x51 any day of the week. Very, very accurate with no where near the recoil.

EDIT: oops, I didn't realize you had already ordered the upper. Keep us posted! I'm interested to see if you can get the mag/ejector issues squared away. If so, this wouldn't be a bad setup IMO.

My buddy found some one piece magazines that were made just for the AR. The old ones were apparently chopped up gi mags with the lips of a SKS Mag welded to it. I do not know the manufacture of the new mags. I will pick them up later this week.

The bolt may or may not be an issue. We will have to see.

I will let you know. I wonder if it will sound like an AK or an AR. Or just a single shot rifle with a broken shell casing stuck in the chamber.

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
Do you have to get some kind of mag adapter?

It probably would have been better overall to just get something like a WASR instead.

There is a one piece mag built specifically for 7.62x39. I don't know The manufacturer yet. I will pick them up in a day or two. I will post a pic.

The barrel is out 10 weeks+ due to the obama panic.

I think this upper will be worthwhile. It is primarily for grins. If it sucks I'll admit it. So far I have $620.00 in the upper, bolt and magazines.

I can always use the barrel it to poke the fire.

I will get back to you with more details.....
