Well, I'm reading that the revised Grendel chamber specs will allow for up to 140 grains. I guess the question here is the same as what I ran into with the 300 win mag, where it becomes a choice between max horsepower vs better ballistic coefficient.
Since it's a relatively small case and a slowish velocity, I need to find what the trade-off is between a 120 A-MAX with a .510 ballistic coefficient vs. The 140 with a .585 at near max pressure. If the heavier bullet is slippery enough to make up for the lower velocity it will have, then I'll probably look there. But the problem I ran into with the 300 win mag was that I couldn't push a 220 SMK fast enough to match the distance the 208 A-MAX would give me out to 1600 yards+. That experience tells me to go with the 120. But who knows, I haven't run any numbers through my ballistics app yet.
