What do y'all reccomend for accuracy reloading for 30-30. Any bullet choice, it will be for a contender

Looks like TC uses a 1:14" twist rate in their 30-30 barrels, so I'd recommend a lightish Sierra Match King if you're looking for accuracy. 135 or 150 gr should stabilize well. Just don't loan it out to anyone using another 30-30. I don't know anything about 30-30 powder but I'm sure there's plenty of info online.

Got my powder coated bullets in. Now to just get them loaded up. Also bought a pound of Alliant's newer powder BE86 as well as a can of TiteWad.

Finally got my shot shell loads for my 45acp perfected. Load 13 in the magazine and empty it. Ended up not using gas checks for overshot wad. Used split shot for fishing in the 1/6oz. Works well and also adds basically a 38cal projectile as well. Makes for a mean close in load.

Question: Do you guys clean your brass before you decap the fired primers or after or both before and after? I've been doing both before and after and wonder if it's overkill...

I use walnut media and it's too big to do much cleaning of the pocket, but it's about right to fit into a small rifle pocket & clog up so I don't deprime before I tumble. I have friends who use stainless pins to tumble and they say they work great for cleaning primer pockets so they do deprime first. Tumbled 20 pieces of Lapua brass for reloading today and didn't deprime first. Just tumbled, deprimed, neck sized, primed & loaded. I won't bother with cleaning primer pockets until I've loaded new brass 4 or 5 times, but my reloads are only for training/plinking/hunting. No competition use.

Picked up a Lee stand for my Hornady LNL. It's actually a very sturdy stand with an easy way to add weight. I started setting up my LNL finally tonight. I have the components to do 500 rounds of 300 BLK immediately - we'll see how it goes. I can already tell it will be much faster than the thousands of rounds I've loaded single stage.

Took about 2 hours to set up and another 3 hours to get through my first 500 rounds with the LNL AP. My rhythm is a round about every 8 seconds when running, but I have to stop every 100 rounds to reload primers and every 300 rounds for more powder. I averaged 50-100 rounds per hour on the single stage, so this progressive press is already much faster!

I do just because i dont like sizing dirty brass. You can buy a decapper die but the media doesnt clean the pocket anyhow so i dont bother. I do after sizing rifle brass also to clean the sizing lube.

I used 36gr's Hogdon BL-C2 and a Sierra 125gr spitzer pro hunter with a CCI match primer. I had a 24" custom shop barrel though. Very accurate, and very deadly on hog.

Got about 240 pounds of lead for bullets casting ready to go. Anyone have a Lee bullet sizer die for a press they want to get rid of?

So this did not go well. My FN PBR XP is a 1:12" twist and the all-copper 150 gr bullets seem to be slightly too long to work well in my gun. I was getting ~5" groups at 150 yds, which will kill a deer but isn't anywhere near acceptable for this reloader.

I decided to make a big change and step all the way down to 110 gr TTSX bullets. Speed is key with these bullets anyway, so I figure a light-for-caliber bullet is a great idea. I loaded up ladder groups using TAC powder and was amazed that the max loads fill the case halfway up the neck. After shooting them all, my gun liked them about equally at 100 yds. No signs of pressure so I loaded a bunch up using the max listed load (57 gr!) of TAC and went back to the range today for sight in.

Set up for sight-in at 150 yds and the first shot was 3.5" high. These things should be pretty flat shooting at 3500+ fps, so I dialed it down to 1" high and the next two were touching at 150 yds. Called it good.

I can't wait to see what these do to deer.

Found 2 lbs of Unique about a week ago. Found a new store that had all the 296, Lil Gun and several others you would want. Broke my handles for my casting molds so I need some new handles.

Just started on the reloading, using a Lee breech lock system. I don't like the powder measure that came with it though.... Doesn't seem accurate enough....any other recommendations?

I'm using Lee's perfect powder measure dispenser with Hodgdon H335 on my .223s and it is dead nuts on. The instructions noted to fill the hopper with powder and run it through prior to using it for reloading. That would remove suface tension static and allow for a uniform dispensing.

Might help if I read rather than looked at the pics and practiced the math...

Anything other than Lee. I have a digital scale that came with my kit. It is by no means high end but it is consistant. The only issue to concider with digital scales is if you have a fluorescent light over it, it can cause variations in weights. (So I have been told). Lots of other good scales out there, your budget is the biggest factor of what you end up with.

I dont know why I thought you were talking about scales. My appology. I weigh every powder charge. Only use the powder drop for flake or ball with the pistols.
