9MM ammunition

I just bought a bunch of 9MM ammunition at Walmart tonight and it got me to wondering... Is one type of ammunition better or worse than others? Does price really matter? 'Cause this was only about $8.50/box...

 

I don't know.....my old boss bought a few of us each a case of Sellior & Billet (sp) 9mm ammo a few years ago. It's cheaper ammo but it shoots fine. I think it's like $7 a box.
I still have like 3-400 rounds

I also bough a crap load (2000 rds) of WOLF 7.62x39 ammo from Cheaper Than Dirt last year.....it was REALLY cheap but shoots fine

 

That's kinda what I figured... Every time I've gone by there, they're always sold out of the 9MM. They sell it all as soon as they get it. So I bought the last 10 boxes they had...

Yeah.. it's going to be hard to find any ammo for a while. just bought a .40 and wanted ammo and had to go to 5 different places just to find someone that had hand gun ammo

 

I would stay away from Monarch which is sold at Academy. I bought some 9mm cause it was dirt cheap and let me tell you it sucks! It shoots poorly, made all my pistols I ran it through very dirty because it has a laquer coating on it, not to mention the nasty propellants that made me nuasious after firing! Stay far away from that crap.

 

The monarch smells like piss when you shoot it.

Yes ...there are differences. It's been a while since I've shot anything, but I remember my husband buying different brands and trying to find the best he liked.

Some of the issues we found - were not loading properly in the mags, some made the gun a lot dirtier, and even some aren't as accurate.

You've gotta play with several brands and find out which ones you like...some just feel smoother than others.

 

Yes, there is a difference.

For plinking/practice, I shoot the cheapest FMJ I can find. Right now it's some steel cased ammo from Russia.

However when my gun goes on my hip I carry the best I can afford, which right now are some Federal HSTs in 147gr flavor.

 

Thats where I buy from. Love it.

 

I have some fiochii from Italy it is pretty good stuff. I have found chest hair packed in with the shells. I hope it was chest hair!

 

have you seen the federal hydrashok +P+?

It will make my 9mm bark like a big gun.
